My Dad's a brush freak

I need a new job
Okay, so my dad's birthday is coming up and he is in deperate need of a new washing brush. Try as I may to get him to try something different, this is the only thing he will use to wash his Trailblazer. So now I'm thinking, instead of him going to the local truck shop and buying the synthetic wash brush that they have there, I should buy him a boars hair from autogeek. Anyone use these? I'm wondering about the longevity of one of these brushes. I don't want him to have to replace a $50 brush every 2 or 3 months. I figure one of those with a pair a gritguards would be a great gift. Any feedback on the brush, or another you would recommend?

I'm not sure if you have one of these in your area, but there's a store called Big Lots here, and they have a lot of those Meg's brushes that Richard posted. From what I can remember, the wheel face brush was 4.99, the Wide Body Brush wash 8.99, the slide lock brush was 1.99. there was a couple others as well. I could be off by a buck or two on the pricing...

I highly recommend the Meguiar's wash brushes, especially the big one. I use the pole that came with the "wash mop" (it has an extension) which makes washing SUV roofs MUCH easier.

I bought a few from big lots you can't beet there prices anywhere for megs brushes. I have the versa angle brush and i use it more then my sheepskin mitts. No marring left behind and a few dips in the buckect will be all you need to rinse it out.

I have the wide angle brush also. I dont like it. It is way to heavy after you dip it in the soap bucket and left plenty of marring on my hood.

I did a review on the Meguiar's Wide-Angle Versa Brush a little while back. I thought it was a great piece, even for a detailer.

He will do minimal damage with it if you teach him a couple simple steps.

Sorry Sean i didn't care for it. The brush was to heavy after dipping it the bucket of suds,i also found the wide angle to be clumsy. also the wide angle was a lil more tidious (sp) when rinsing . The smaller version is much easier to work with and rinsed a lot easier in the rinse bucket.

I read the review and it was a very good one. your review was why i purchased the brush, but i bought the shorter version by accident, then i bought the wide angle from big lots and found the shorter version much easier to work with, also the wide angle didn't rinse as good.

If you purchase the wide angle brush read seans write up just don't take one opinion.

Thanks guys. I will definitely give the megs brushes a try before I go spend the 50 for a boars hair. I already have the soft wheel brush and I love it. I'll have to see what autogeek gets for the megs brushes, I have to order some grit guards and BnB anyway.

I got this bucket for my wide versa angle brush:

It allows me to rub the bristles on the grate at the bottom to dislodge dirt.

A boar's hair brush would be nice but they are very pricey. Meg's has a couple very soft body brushes and i know that they will not scratch. I have a buddy with a big lifted Expedition and he has a 30k paint job and uses them on it so i know there are safe.

That's the same brush I use, too... I love it. The long handle is especially nice for reaching the roofs of SUVs/Trucks/Vans :)

I absolutely LOVE the Meg's Versa-Angle Wheel Face Brush, but I prefer to disconnect the long handle and use it in my hand OR I'll use the short handle from the Versa-Angle Tire Brush. I only recommend the Meg brushes for the wheels and tires.

I use a boars hair brush on the lower panels and Griots makes some great ones for multiple purposes. I picked up their long-hair version for about $30 less than their short hair version. It is stinky when it is wet, but it works very well when used properly.

Here's where I get my brushes:

Exactly!

Different strokes for different folks.

The boar's hair brush is definately a better piece but also about 5-7x as much. You'll really have to look at what your father will find most useful.
