My Civic - From begining to end....

Well I thought I would do something a little different. I'm going to post pics of my car as it sits now (not detailed). I'm wanting to show the progress off the car over the winter so I will try to update it when I work on it.

I'm hoping it might help some people (as I will try to add problems and solutions I encounter through learning how to detail). And maybe some of you all will just like to see the progress. Without further adieu (spelling?)...

First the pics of the car (I have since added a few things but these are the most recent)...

I was playing with the camera settings on this photo, thats the reason for the weird hue

Nice. Any engine shots or specs?

I was about to say. You can't post a turbo civic and not list its specs. :bat

Maybe we can meet up and have the ej8 vs ej1. :chuckle:

AIM = stiffdogg06 if you ever want to chat about cars or detailing.

Since you parenthetically mentioned spelling of adieu, it's my civic responsibility to tell you that 'adieu' means goodbye. As far as 'ado', let's see what dict.org says:

There ya go. Nice Civic, I look forward to the rest of your thread.

im glad you decided to post, i also have a silver car and i am anxious to see how much correcting the paint will bring up the looks. good luck.

I will try to get some pics of the motor soon. The engine bay is so messy I'm almost embarrassed to post them. Maybe I'll clean it up tomorrow and snap some pics.

Alright here is the list of stuff on the car, I am sure I'm going to miss some things so...

Also the car has been designed by myself centered around autocross/roadracing. I went with a turbo that would give me good response and not so much top hp. The car is putting down around 250hp (compared to 111 stock). Looking to get around 350-375 with the built motor.

All parts where installed on the car by myself.

I think that is most of it...

reading your suspension setup reminds me of my friends EL. His username is Fresh'86 or something on H-T. You've got a great car there man!

So are you planning to tear apart the car and detail the heck out of it?:D

Yeah I want to get the thing looking better than it did when I bought it. Its going to take alot of work, and alot of questions and researching but I'm hoping you all can help me out :)

I'm running 9.5 PSI

RedlineIRL: Yeah I love the garage. It was a 2 car garage and my parents had it extended to a four car. Being that I have my two cars and my dad is into motorcycles we need alot of room haha. Also are you an IRL fan? I'm just assuming since your name says RedlineIRL haha. I'm a big Andretti Green Racing fan.

Thank you all for the kind comments. Car is not on any level as most of your's especially in the detailed dept.

Yeah the car can corner pretty well. Before I got into my core college classes I autocrossed reguarly (2.5 seasons). I got quite a collection in my short racing career. I plan on racing again when I get some time away from school.

Some detailing news: I guess this the official start of the detailing of the car....

I ordered some detailing products today:

Sonus Der Wunder Wash Kit

1" Round Natural Detail Brush

Sonuse Buffing Towel

Sonus Ult. Detailing Towel

Sonus Glass and Chrome Polish

Sonus Micro. Fib. Applicator Pads

Plexus Plastic Polish

I ordered a PC a few days ago from a guy on this board in the FS section.

Im also going to pick up some Prima Epic and Prima Amigo soon from a guy on this board. I'm still deciding on what sealant I want to use. I was thinking of ordering the collinite and maybe some Opti-Seal as a few of you told me its good. I also might get some p21s wax and see how I like that. I figured I can get a few different products and see what happens.

I plan on getting the menzerna products as well. Im not sure if I want to go ahead and try the amigo polish or just wait, save and get the menzerna. So many decisions!!! :aww:

Civicman86- This oughta be both a fun project for you and an interesting thread for the rest of us.

Don't be bashful about how the engine compartment looks, that'll just make for better before/after shots ;)

And, heh heh, I'd do up the undercarriage too. With the nice components you have down there it'd look great all cleaned up.

Notice how the marring is *SO* much more visible in the last pics, under the incandescent light. You can hardly see it at all under the flourescents.

My $0.02 is to just polish out the marring and go with Collinite wax. It works great for me, and no, I don't use a sealant underneath. I'd concentrate on the marring...that'll be the big challenge IMO. Never tried the Prima...I'd recommend 1Z myself, very newbie-friendly. 1Z Paint Polish topped with Collinite wax is a simple approach that works great (sources: Welcome to Exceldetail! or Aloha & Welcome to Our Oasis for All Your Auto Detailing Supplies & Accessories ).

Oh, and I'd absolutely clay the car before you start polishing it.

Sounds like you've done a great job getting the mechanicals the way you want them (and it's nice to see that you can really drive the thing :D ). Now you can get the cosmetics up to par with a good detail. Oh, and I agree with notsoslimshady- that's a great look you have there, very classy and understated :xyxthumbs

Generally speaking I am not an honda kinda guy at all sure you can tell by my sig. but your car is very classy! I must :bow and:bigups. Also nice garage you have there. And very interested in engine bay pics as well!!!

Well since you all requested pics I took some of the dirty engine bay.

Thanks again for all the nice comments. I like to make the car different without it screaming for attention. I try to keep it as close to stock as possible while giving it subtle changes.

Also wanted to add a detailing update:

Yesterday I bought some Megs QD and some Mothers Back to Black trim enhancer stuff. I thought it was a dye but found out it was not. Looks like Ill just have to order some forever black on the net.

PC should be here on thur and my prima amigo and epic will be here on friday. Ill probably test it all out on my accord first, or on my civic's hood (since I will be getting a carbon fiber on for xmas).

Dirty!!!!!

My valve cover that I did myself with some spray paint and boredom hahah....

IMG_5312.jpg

This is what happens if your run open wastegate with no dumptube..

IMG_5313.jpg

I finished cutting and wiring the sidemarkers today. Quick pick I took. Note: sidemarkers only come on when blinkers come on, just like on the civic type r.

IMG_5317.jpg

Nothing like a turbocharged SOHC...why not invest in a B16 or B18 DOCH granted they have a higher comp. ratio but you have still put down some numbers with them...Lovefab makes nice stuff...ahh I remember the import days for me...had a boosted T3/T4 B18c Integra GSR...loved every second of it!!

How is your car holding up?

Omg, a tastefully done civic. And you didn't say "dog" "hella" or "homie" in the whole post. I think a first for a civic owner. Very nice work and tastefully done car! Its refreshing to see owners like yourself.
