My car roof went from smooth to rough again

What happened? I clayed my whole car the other day and it was so smooth. Then I followed up with 3 coats of Z5 yesterday and it was even smoother. Now today i put on 3 coats of Z2 and it's not so smooth anymore :( I think maybe some dirt from the wind got onto it was I buffed out the wax or something cause it remained like this after I put on some Z6. It's weird cause the rest of the car remained smooth throughout all the coats.

So if I clay just the roof again, will I need to put on all 6 coats again or what? How much will the clay take off?

Did you park near or around some trees? It could be tree sap. I can't even see tree sap on my car, but I can sure feel it!

My car is parked where there some trees around, and for some reason, the trunk attracts the sap more than other areas of the car. (wierd).....Z6 takes it right off.

I wouldn't clay again. Z6 should take off whatever the foreign material is, whether it is sap, blown dirt, pollen or fairy dust.

And yes, I'm pretty sure clay would take it down to bare paint.

I thought I read somewhere that claying does not get through wax/sealant but just removes contamination on the top....but I don't really know. It makes sense to me that it would not remove wax/sealant as the clay doesn't cantain any chemicals but is meant to lift contaminants off the surface....I think?? Hope someone can confirm this one way or the other.

If you put on the Z2 on top of the contamination then you'll have to remove all the Zaino and do the top over.:o

Yeah I was pretty close to a tree, I guess it could be sap. I'll see how it is after a wash and quick detail before I try anything else

Claying removes some Z.....with as much Z as you applied 6 layers in all.....just clay and QD and then inspect shine....

If shine ok then drink a beer.....

Mark, try just washing it and see what happens. If you're parked near a tree, there are little bugs in it that emit a sugar dew or something that dries up and makes you think it's sap when it's really not. Happened to me last year and I freaked out. ;)

Good luck!
