My BMW M6 2006

Hi everyone

First of all Great site! I have been reading allot of great threads

and tips all over this site.

I bought last April a BMW M6 2006 Great car I love it, it was my dream car for so long

"16 years" and now it sits in my garage.

a really expensive car like the M6 makes you think 100 times before using any

products on it and I have done my research as much as I could on it and on the

paint, The Color of the car is Sapphire Black *Picture Below* and it has a clear coat of

course but as most of you know the clear coat on the New BMW's is thin

My local Detail shop owner has an experience over 15 years detailing cars

and he uses stuff in a clear bottle with no name except the purpose of it like

Like Polish, Glaze, Wax ect. So I asked him about the product and he told me it is

stuff for detailers only and it is sold to detailers and dealerships only as a truck

comes by once a month to fill up the gallons of products. I forgot the name of

the products. But he told me he mix the products with water "No idea why" but

that’s what he does and It got me worried about his products and how good they are.

that reason made think I should start taking care of my car my self and not give

it to him unless there is something major like Swirl Marks ect.

By the way I detail my car "washing and waxing with him once a week"

So I went over Autopia bought some stuff from this site and other sites as will,

here is a list of my inventory right now.

Also a dozen of MF towels from BMW service shop to be used on BMW cars.

And also I have Zaino Kit, the spray bottle that makes the car shiner I think it is number

7? I have been using allot and I am not sure if is to strong for the clearcoat or paint of the car,

What should I be using for the weekly washing waxing for this car?

Also I have some swirl marks I think from previous detailing is visible

not to much but it is there. I don't want to harm the clear coat as the car is really

new and I want to get rid of those swirls.

What’s the best method and safest to wax my car every week and what should I use

from those items to remove the swirl marks with out harming the paint or the clear coat?

Thanks allot guys and sorry the list of product is to long :sosad :woot2:

I'll save you $50. Buy the Hitachi rotary from coastaltool.com for $99. Looks like you're making life too difficult. You're buying to many of the same products. Why are you buying so many pads? I would stick to a system like the Sonus pads and learn how to polish paint with the PC.

Looks like you went through every post and came up with this, when All you need is:

***PC Oribital Polisher with the the 6" Sonus SFX Polisher Kit and backing plate.

Get you Some Menzerna Intensive Polish, Power gloss, and some Final Polish II.

then use either

1 [PIN-515] Pinnacle Ultra Poly-Clay @ $19.95 each = $19.95

1 [PIN-335] Pinnacle Liquid Souveran 16 oz. @ $29.95 each = $29.95

1 [PIN-200] Pinnacle Paintwork Cleanser 16oz @ $19.95 each = $19.95

Or Zaino, I preffer Zaino myself.

Check out the Zaino site:

http://www.zainostore.com/

Hope this helps, Good Luck!!

It is true I went thru every post "almost" lol

however I ordered a wrong pad order which I had to keep a side

and order correct pads.

the Zaino Kit I have it it has all the Zaino products, almost.

As for the Hitachi I have it as will

A professional is not a problem.

I have one on stand by but why use one while I have better stuff than he does

and I know what’s the process of detailing as I sit there while he details my car

all the time. however I don't think the "professional" will afford fixing a miss

he might make while removing the swirl marks.

Any comments from experienced form members is greatly appreciated.

Seriously you bought alot of stuff you probably don't need you'd be suprised what a decent pad kit and the PC can do for a car that you honestly take care of each week. I don't see two buckets, I don't see a foam gun, nor any sheepskin mitts...start with the basics and thats general care, you won't need to pull out a rotary on a brand new paint job that you take care of from the beginning for a long time if you wash and dry the correct ways, what swirls you do accumulate the PC a light polish and the correct pad should have no problem fixing. Just my .02, start with the basics.

Thanks for the reply,

I have a BMW sheepskin wash mitt "The Best I was told By my detailer"

Which gets washed before and after wash;

I have been useing Zaino washing Shampo and some times switch to Sonus Shampo,

As for dring I feel the Big Blue is a little harsh on the paint, am I wrong?

I also have four BMW Leather skin dring towles but I am worried about swirl marks

from useing those.

Oh and I also have 2 buckets one for the wheels the other for the car,

always cleaned before being used "even on the wheels"

As for the foam gun, I bought a reglar gun from home depot for cars "looks nice

and trust me it isn't cheap" it is metal; is that a foam gun or is a foam gun somthing else

I need to look for?

What I really need to know whats the safest wax from what I have that is safe

for every week waxing?

I have never heard of a BMW Sheepskin Wash Mitt...hmm where can I buy one of these at? I thought my $5 one from WM was good. You might want to add a third bucket...a rinse bucket. Do a panel with your mitt then wash it off in the rinse bucket to get any dirt off of it. Then soap it back up and do another panel.

**EDIT***

Danase has the foam gun you want.

I'll start off with the foam gun...can probably do a search on here or any of the popular detailing sites people mention, it basically mixes water and really suddsy soap together and you get tons of smooth foam to spray all over the car via your hose, with some practice you can spray the water/foam mixture on to the paint and your mitt as you move across your paint therefore hopefully preventing swirls.

Two bucket method...TWO buckets for PAINT...One with soapy water, one with plain water...soap, wash a panel or less if its really dirty, dip and rinse really good in plain water...then soap again..repeat, when in doubt rinse. I know alot of these things took alot of reading for me as a noob to figure out so I'm trying to outline them best I can for you here.

Wax you can use every week? Do you have a wife and kids? I would love the car to but your going to get burnt out, so lay down your choice of wax and sealant...wash the car weekly then come back with a Spray sealant/qd/wax of your choice, alot of people are hyping the Duragloss products and you can find those locally, the spray on duragloss is supposed to be super easy and deliver..so wash the ride, dry it off (since you have black I would buy a cheap electric leaf blower) sounds like your not short on money anyways blow as much water off as you can finish up with a nice waffle weave microfiber....then come back with a nice microfiber and the spray wax/sealant on each panels quick buff on wipe off...and then go drive around and watch people stare..maybe do your "complete process" with PC and clay bar and all that good stuff once every month or two, laying down a good start, and keeping it up with a good spray on during washings goes along way. again my .02

ndtechie05

any BMW service department carries them unless you live in a small town.

they really look good and I have been useing it for over month now and it

still looks like new, it is about 35-45 dollars? not sure

dmxsoulja3

thanks for the tips great info,

But I hope you are not clying every 2 or even 4 months?

that will sure chew up the clearcoat thats for sure.

as for spray wax, I have opimum sample bottle for their wax but for some

reason I feel it is to much rubbing with the MF towl, I would feel better

useing my PC with P21S Concours Carnauba Wax, as it has less rubbing process

no I honestly don't clay very often because I can never find shade to do it in and it makes for a pain when the lube dries on the car in the sunlight.

As long as your using a good clean towel there is no problem with spray wax and rubbing, all the guys here do it and you'd be suprised at how decent it comes out. I guess you could lay down p21 every week if you wanted to but I think its a bit overboard even for some of the extremeists here.

I always wash the MF towels some times after each use!

store them in a container sealed from dust as will as the polisher pads and even

the polishers them selfs!

I think I am getting to much in to this :aww:

$35 for a sheepskin mitt? I could buy 5 from WM. That sounds pretty expensive. Nice packaging at least?

lol not really but it feels real for some reason and it is easily clean?

I am suprised as how clean it gets fast. do a search on BMW Mitt might find it online.

If you are only taking care of YOUR OWN car... you really don't need that much.

You won't need rotary... just the PC.

Use the PC, one pad kit with a variety of aggressiveness levels, a couple different grade polishes, maybe a glaze, a wax you like on your paint, and a qd. Apart from that just some good towels and random stuff for trim, glass, leather, etc.

thanks for the reply,

what type of stuff that I have that I should use? I have wax's and polish's

I think a glaze with the zaino kit or P21s kit

I just ordered

Gilmour Foamaster Foam gun

Four Star Professional White Lightning General Purpose Cleaner

Smooth Glass Towel.

Use the PC... one set of the pads... probably only need one polish w/ new paint... then use the Klasse AIO... then follow that w/ the 3M glaze if other's agree... followed by Souveran OR p21s OR zaino - not all of them.
