here's my 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante with 41000km (25000 miles approx?).

Paint's in really good condition, no stone chips and minimal swirls. Unfortunately 3 out of 4 doors have 2 or 3 pin head dents which i hope to have fixed at some point.

I actually detailed it last weekend, these pix are after washing and drying it today

1. washed with Mothers California Gold wash

2. clayed with Mothers Clay Bar (quite a few stubborn pin head sized black dots everywhere, took a while to remove them all.

3. washed and dried again with MCG

3. Mothers Paint Cleaner

4. Autoglym SRP

4. Meguiars NXT (liquid) - 2 coats approx 24 hours apart

5. Tyres, wheels wells and any black trim dressed with Meguiars Endurance

6. Headlights/taillights polished with Meguiars Plastix then SRP and NXT

Used Mothers Wax Attack polisher to apply and M/F by hand to remove. Unfortunately in my country I can pretty much only find the big names like Mothers/Meguiars/Turtle Wax and only through chain stores.

anyway, pix! although i couldn't capture the flake, there is so much flake it can look almost like a pale silver rather than white.

You did good. It also has low miles. You can kind of tell the silver flake in the last pic. I like your job.

Hi,

Looks great!! Where are you?? NZ or AU?? White is always PIA colour as far tar marks go!!

You cant go wrong with the products you choose, now you can just keep it topped up with NXT.

Geoff

PS. Did the boot get stained another colour or is it the angle its pointing at the drive way??

thanks :)

I'm from NZ. my last car was black, so if it's not swirls that is the problem it's tar marks! can't win

I was going to use ScratchX instead of the paint cleaner but it was incredibly hard to remove, to the point where i was worried it was not going to come off! so still have some swirls remaining.

i think it's just the angle. i think the rear bumper has been repainted at some point as the paints slightly different colour with less flake, but the boot matches fine

Looks very wet.

Here in Belgium we also have only Turtle wax and the kind. Meguiar's is at triple price. I order all my products through internet.

You could try the Werkstatt Acrylic products. They are amazing on light colours.
