Nicest looking SSR I've ever seen and nice work brightening it up! I'm not too high on the reds and yellows I see too often on that vehicle.

There are lots of reds and yellows out there. Mine was all black before I had it painted back in 06. The black was driving me crazy!:crazy2:

Those things are sweet when they're two toned. I got a question for you though. Why did you use the cleaner wax before the polish.

You removed the protection the cleaner wax left behind when you used the polish. Then added probably little to nothing with the quick detailer.

Looks good anyways.

Hmmm....I don't know. That's one of the reasons I signed up here, to learn from the pros. So you would do the polish before the wax? Lay it out for me please.:)

I can lay it out for you...once the car is washed and clayed..seeing that you are going to clay...you start with the polishing to remove minor swirls and such...depending on how many swirls you have depends on what polish or cutting product you will use...There are some polishes that cut more than other..example is PB SSR 2.5..it will remove swirls but you should follow this with a lighter polish like his SSR1 or his Pro-Polish

Once you have arrived at the finish you like..then you can start the toppers...I prefer to glaze at this point..it adds POP to the paint and most glazes have some fillers to cover up any of the minor swirls that might be left...then your ready for a sealant or paste wax...your cleaner wax would not be a good choice here...I would use a good paste wax that has no cleaners in it..if you want to use your cleaner wax do that after you have finished the polishing.

I like what you have done with the SSR. It looks very nice.

Although it was not a hit with the masses and is not in production anymore I believe that the SSR is a classic and I wish that I would have purchased one when I had a chance. If I had done so I may not have purchased my my HHR in 2008.

Looks super good to me!!

Looks alot like one of my client's. His is yellow on the bottom, and purple on the top. I also installed chromed grill bars on his;)

I'm gonna chime in a little about the polishing and the cleaner wax.... first, I'm not familiar with the Zanio line, but I can speak up a little on cleaner waxes and polishes. Most "cleaner waxes" have some abrasive qualities. Even if they say "it's a chemical cleaner," trust me, they do (don't believe me, take a concourse detailed black vehicle and rub a little on it with your softest baby diaper and report back the results). For the most part, products labeled "polishes" even though they may contain contain some abrasives, the abrasives are much finer (as an example, if cleaner wax was 400grt sand paper, polish would be 1500-2000grt). In marketing products to consumers, unfortunately there is no standardization in our industry. One manufacturer may call it a wax, another may call it a sealer, while a third may call it a polish -- even when it's the exact same relabeled product. As with any polishing though, it's best to start with the roughest and work up to the finest. If the cleaner wax is abrasive, use it first, then follow up with a polish, top it with a sealant (glaze, wax, polymer, etc).

Most importantly though, if you're happy with the results, and you like the products you're using -- stick with 'em. Do try lots and lots of products though -- even support our sponsors, but from my experience, it's only about 10-15% the products -- the rest is process, techniques and experience.

The way I read the posters information it would seem to me that he used the proper steps. "IF"...the Zaino polish that was listed and applied was either Z2, Z2Pro, Z5, Z5Pro, or ZAIO.

When you say Zaino Polish.....Do you mean their Z-PC polish, or one of their sealants that they CALL polish (Z2 or Z5). Reguardless, Zaino likes to bond to Zaino, so I would leave the cleaner wax out and use the ZPC or Zaino AIO and then follow that up with one of their sealants (remember, they refer to their sealants as "POLISH"). It can be kinda confusing.

The SSR looks awesome. I detailed a red one last weekend. It's definitely an interesting looking vehicle. I dont know whether to call it a car or truck, but I like it. The exhaust note is very nice as well. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I used 3M cleaner wax #39066 then followed up with Zaino Z2 and finished it off with Z6. I had bought a bottle of Zaino PC Fusion to get rid of some swirls i had but when I tried it on a small part of my hood it made it worse so I got scared and didn't use it.:( I went back to the 3M. I do look forward to trying the PB products and anything else that is highly suggested. Today is my day off so I'm off to wash my 08 Accord. Not a complete detail but just enough to get me through the rest of the week.:D

Looks good. :bigups

Keep in mind that you probably seriously compromised the Zaino by putting it directly on the 3M Cleaner Wax. It most likely won't last as long as it would if it had a clean surface to bond to.

Looks good. If you wanna stick with Zaino I would use ZAIO, Z5x2 with ZFX, Z2x1 then next wash Z2x3 with ZFX.

Please don't take offense, but I have to throw in a comment here. Won't call it my 2 cents worth since it isn't even worth that, but......
ZAIO, Z5, Z5, Z2, Z2, Z2, Z2
Sounds like a nice 7 step process to me. :D

You can make it easier on yourself, ZAIO, Z5 w/ZFX, Z2x2 w/FX all in the same day.
Zaino is all about the layers. Just an option if he wants to stick with the Zaino line. I use to use them when I had my mustang
