Well I finally got a Digital SLR, and a pretty nice one at that. I got a Nikon D80, along with the 18-55MM kit lens, as well as a Nikkor 55-200mm :)

I went out with Louis and his Dad, and took some pictures of their bikes, as well as a few of my car, I hope you guys like them, and this was my first official shoot with the new camera, so I'm sure I can only improve from here!

My car is wearing Caranuba Jett, and both bikes are wearing NXT, they take GREAT care of their bikes/vehicles!!! (I use Meg's HD cut 2:1 for the tires, Collinite's 476s for all of the exterior trim, 2:1 for the shaker/lower chin spoiler, and my wheels are kept up with Poliseal/AJT...)

All in all, I LOVE this camera...I used to shoot a lot with my Nikon FM, an older film SLR, so I was very familiar with this type of camera to begin with, so it wasn't too bad of a transition...

All of the shots were taken with a tripod, UV filter, and every shot was on completely manual. I know the shots of my car were a little blown, but hey, white is a blessing and a curse!

I also have a few HDR images that I may upload, but for now, hopefully these will do!

Wow, those pics look absolutely professional. Very nice.

Have they been doctored at all in any way?

Thanks! And as for being doctored, no not really, for some of them I burned the pavement a little bit, just to give it a little darker look, and the shots of my car I applied a warming filter, b/c with white it's very had to get an even balance, usually comes out too red/blue, and in this case, it was a tad blue.

The moving shots were brightened just a hair, and sharpened to help bring out the details a little more. They were taken in very low light so it was hard to get them as crisp as I wanted...

Nice pics! Those bikes are curvy and sexy I love them!

Do you visit any camera forums?

None, but I may check out some Nikon forums....

I've found the popphoto.com forums very helpful. Some users give some pretty harsh critique, but I like that better. They tell you what's wrong and what you can do to make it better.

Great pictures...

Did you try a polarized filter when shooting the white car. I know you mentioned a UV filter, but was it polarized...

And not to sound like a dad here, but at least wear a textile jacket when you ride your bike, and some gloves to boot...

The R1 is damn sexy...

Thanks for sharing..

Wow, amazing quality. I attend UCF and I'm pretty sure it's your car that I see in the parking garage all the time.

pics are amazing. Very impressed - looks like you also know your way around the software as well, as you have really made the most of the colours, contrast and cropping.

always makes me chuckle when I see posts like "must be a hell of a camera...." Truth is it must be a hell of a photographer :D

The pics look really good. You get what you pay for in an expensive camera. Here is a pic of my Z-28 with a FujiFilm S3 Pro with a 17-35mm lense? I'm not too sure on the lense.

This picture was taken by me and photography isn't too great but my father is a CPP.
