Mustang Shelby GT 500

I am doing a full detail for my customer and all is well except the wide vinyl stripes on the hood. They are gold in color, and they are heavily spotted by what looks like acid rain or the like. I have tried all kinds of cleaners, magic erasers, claying, and light compounds, but only with little effect. Anyone have any other thoughts of what else might work short of replacing them?

Probably nothing can be done. Gently buff them (with a DA/M105 if possible) and see what happens. I wouldn't go any more aggressive than that.

If they are *gold* in color, they are not the stock GT500 stripes.

The Shelby-GT could have O.E. gold stripes and would be vinyl.

IF you're dealing with OE Ford stripes, they're fairly tough and Menzerna 203S and 3M Ultrafina both work well on them.

Modest pressure, slow speed via a PC (original) has worked for me on the white and red stripe material.

Just do not use excess pressure or allow heat buildup. Let the pad/compound do the work and not pressure/heat.
