Music while you work?

CH.Detailing

What's a detail?
I know I find those long corrections mind numbing at times, and I think I would crack if it wasn't for my iPod. Do you guys listen to music while you work, and if so, what?

:)

I stream DougFM out of Detroit. A number of stations claim they play everything but they seem to really try. Have heard sets that have Frank Sinatra and Black Sabbath!

A friend of mine just turned me on to a device that makes detailing, music and the phone a treat to use. It is called a motorola silver elite earpiece that streams bluetooth from your phone so pandora and your tunes are avail. Now everyone I'm sure has a earpiece - I have two jabras - but this is so small and fits behind the ear it's nearly invisible - works 100 feet and also had great clarity. Also unique is a holder that has an internal battery that charges it back up on the fly, when you insert it. No wall plug needed.

listen to everything...from Basie to Strait....

I would go nuts without music in the background. I go back and forth between a lot of different stuff, country, classic rock, jazz, etc. all depending on my mood and the job I'm doing.

For me, when I'm not doing something noisy with a buffer I'll leave Pandora running on my phone, usually set to either blues (the likes of BB King or Bobby Bland) or jazz (Dizzy Gillespie or Miles Davis).

If I'm making a racket then I'm on my iPod with sound isolating ear buds (just because I have good hearing doesn't mean I'm gonna abuse it). When I'm working I'll listen to just about anything easy whether it be folk, classical, indie, electronica, classic rock, or some mellow hip-hop (before it went gangsta).

When I'm not working I'll usually be blasting some hardcore metal or hip-hop. Although this is the music I prefer I find that it's not always the most conducive towards a focused detailing mindset.

At work, the local rock station is on from open till close. In the garage or on a weekend job, Pandora or music stored on my phone or tablet keeps me occupied. Usually some pretty heavy stuff :D

Dear Connor & Friends

Great thread!

I'm trying to figure out how to listen to music in our garage. Ours is a basement garage that consumes half of our basement. I've seen pictures of detailers using earbuds to listen to their music while they work, but those loose cords look like they could pose a problem.

Ideally, I'd like to have something simple that sounds great, like Bang & Olufsen's new Beolit, but US$800 is about US$700 out of my budget.

I may opt for Logitech's Z623 (2.1, THX) speakers and attach an old iPod to it. The predecessor to the Z623 set is attached to our Mac Pro upstairs and it sounds really wonderful.

Once I get some sound in the garage, I'll listen to '70s, '80s, and '90s music, including Bon Jovi, U2, Counting Crows, Live, Sister Hazel, Foo Fighters, 3 Doors Down, Bob Seger, AC/DC, Audioslave, and others.

I could really use some music while I work. Believe it or not, I detest manual labor. It's the desire to protect what I consider to be large investments in personal transportation that motivates me to do it. Some up-tempo rock would certainly grease my gears.

I listen to my iPhone. I just got a set of head phones that have a cord control system. There is a loop that I can stick my head through and the ear buds hang down on my chest when I pull them out. So far they have worked out nice once I figured them out.

I like to listen to Slacker on my phone. There are plenty of different stations that regardless of my mood I can find something to listen to. Thank goodness for my unlimited data plan… I hope I never lose it

The iPod is definitely a must (with a good set of noise isolating in ear headphones)

Music that gets played is normally in the likes of Progressive trance / house.. sometimes funky house.. if I am feeling really out of it.. I crank the rock / metal
