Murphy's oil soap????

This is wicked, I was talking to my neighbor today. Like me, he likes a clean shiny ride. So we talked for a good part of an hr about detailing and general stuff. He has an older truck, '90 chevy 1500 4x4. I asked him what wax does he use to keep it so nice and do you use a buffer, techniques and so forth. He said "I don't wax it" I paused for a minute, he asks "ever hear of Murphy's oil soap???? I said "yes" He said I just use that weekly, because the oils in it help to keep the paint deep and wet looking" So what do you guys think????

I use Murphys in the spray bottle to clean leather and vinyl. Before w.w.2 oil soap was used to wash cars , that all they had detergents were not invented yet, all they had was soap, for shiney stuff they used potasium oil soap which is

Murphys . I dont know how it would work on modern paints , ill have to try it I know you couldnt wash walls with oil soap and then paint , the oil would keep the paint from sticking.

If all you desire is a spray product that shines, just used a caranuba based QD.

Leave the Murphys for what it was intended for, which isn't paint.

Tks guys,

Maybe I can convince my neighbor to strip off that Murphy's and try out my S100, maybe he'll like the shine better??? lol ,,,,,,,91

using murphys is just like the old trick some car dealerships use to shine up showroom cars: spray them with pledge furniture polish.

I would venture to say that your neighbors truck woul dnot pass the "baggie test". Slip on a sandwhich baggoe and run it across his roof or trunk and I'll bet it feels like sandpaper.

If so then show him how clay works and what it can do then wax it for him.

If the paint is as slick as a babys butt then I am buying a case of Murphys!!

Murphy's Irish Stout?

Well I spoke with him again today. I offered to detail his truck for him, the whole shabang for $65. Yes I"m cheap, don't have any DACP, VM, and all that good schtuff. Yes Anthony his truck was gritty but not like super gritty. probably because of the Murphy's making it seem like it's smoother than what it really is. I washed it with Dawn and man let me tell you,,,,,,,that finish was grittier than 120 Grit Sandpaper, LOL Out comes the Prowax clay bar, and the garden hose. I showed him how it works and let him do a panel on his own. Turned out nice and very much smoother. I washed the truck with E1 Wet Car wash to remove the excess junk on the paint left by the clay bar. I test drove my PC with this one. Don't ***** at me for no pics because my camera sucks and you won' persuade me to buy a new one either :p Out comes the #7 and #26. Taking my time, explaining to my neighbor how it works, I let him have a shot at the PC and the #26. He loved it, kept bragging about how much faster it made the job go. The Truck looked so much better than being in covered in oil for years.

BTW, I just ordered some stuff from Autopia Car Care store. Got 2 bottles of 1Z Cockpit Premium and 2 Ultimate Detaling Towel Packages making a total of 6 MF towels:D So keep and eye out for my reviews of the 2 products,,,,,,,91
