I figured since I started the other thread on the soap, I would just copy and paste my whole review of the kit (if you remember how I got that) :lol
This is from January 13th, 2004. Keep that in mind
Well guys, it finally thawed out here and I had a day and car to detail. While the car is not what I intended, it was a car that needed it much. I was looking to find a Trans-Am or something of the sort just to be funny. I detailed a 2001 PT Cruiser that has never been polished before—strictly just Turtle Wax :angry Weather was 58 degrees and sunny. To begin, I have to say that I am very impressed with the products overall. The quantity that one receives is enormous, but the price is meager….and I like that! The customer service is humorous, yet effective and serious about what their mission is. While the labels are homemade, I probably wouldn’t have noticed if Fuzz hadn’t said something. The directions are clear and concise. The products are some of the easiest to use on the market—yes, even compared to Poorboy’s and Adam’s.
Awesome Wash and Wax
This stuff is BY FAR the best soap I have used, and I have used quite a few! I have never seen a car soap regenerate suds quite like this one. I dropped the recommended 1-2 ounces into a 3.5gallon bucket. I then began to detail the wheels and tires. Well, they were a bit worse than expected, so before I was able to start washing, 45 minutes had passed. I am a big fan of the Adam’s Polishes and Zymol car soaps, but when waiting this long, I no longer had suds with these. I came back to the Mullet Wash and didn’t see hardly any suds. I did my usual and shook the hell out of my wash mitt, and WOW, the suds instantly appeared……and then more appeared! I had suds once again! The lubrication was just as good if not better than the above, which gave me confidence that I wasn’t doing any damage. This is probably one of the best smelling soaps I have used also.
It rinsed incredibly fast and did not leave wet spots behind. After the final rinse, I took it for a spin just up the street and back. Most of the water had slid off, then I decided to try the HUGE Mullet MF towel. I typically use a Waffle Weave MF towel to dry, but this thing is big enough to use out of the shower!! It was incredibly soft, and did the job right!
Awesome Polish
First impression was that it smelled incredible again. Almost like Big Chew bubble gum :bigups The consistency is lighter than usual, but not runny. The huge 32oz bottles are a great value, however, they are a bit of a lug to handle when using a PC. The dispenser is very good on them. I used an Edge DA Blue polishing pad (will do a separate review). Like I said, this car had not been polished before, so I came in here anticipating having to use something a bit strong. I was right, while this polish did not remove ALL the scratches and swirls, it did remove a lot more than I expected. I would compare this to a Poorboy’s SSR1.5 Right in between a 1 and a 2. The depth of gloss was very impressive when only doing ½ of a hood and seeing the results. It did leave a “wet lookâ€ appearance which looked killer on a black surface. With the PC set to 4-5, the product worked into the paint very quickly, and was not oily. The chalk was definitely apparent IF applied too thickly, luckily, this too can be buffed easily with just a simple pass. Using the Awesome MF, the polish came off very smoothly and effortlessly. I did about ½ the car before buffing the residue off. ABSOLUTELY NO DUST!! This would be my new choice for a final polish.
Awesome Wax
Again, the product smells very, very good. Likewise, the bottle was a little bit clumsy to work with while using a PC, but this aspect could very well be overlooked when you look at the value! PC setting was on 2.5-3. The wax worked in quickly and effectively. It was not clumpy or just plain full of carnuba, which I liked.
A little really did go a long way, so 32oz would last the typical consumer for years. This could possibly be a marketing change so that customer retainment would be enlightened. What I mean is that the customer will order once a year, and not once every 2-3 years. That way, when Mullet comes out with their tire shine, good smelling interior spray, plastic/rubber moisturizer, or whatever, they would be inclined to pick these up at that time then. Typically, a consumer only orders when they need more of the product (that’s not the case with DC members :lmfao ) Just a suggestion though, it really is a good value, and the products worked so well, that even if the company only cut the price by ¼, I would still be inclined to purchase in the future.
I let the product sit for 30 minutes while doing the interior. With the Awesome MF towel, the product came off incredibly easy. There was absolutely no need to use any detail spray to remove the residue. AGAIN, NO DUSTY/CHALKY RESIDUE!! While I cannot at this time vouch for durability, the resin contained seems as if it would last. The finish was amazing, a 180* turnaround (I love detailing cars when this happens). The depth of color was definitely darkened, and a very clear look was present; not so much of the wet look like the Awesome Polish. This product is definitely worth a try, and for the price, it will last you for quite a long time. I would say easily 30+ applications.
Awesome Microfiber Towels
These things are the kicker, they rock :headbang They are very, very soft and white in color. I did pull the small tags off prior to using. They grabbed my hands with incredible verbosity, which made me feel as if they were going to be doing a great job! I have used the bold towel prior to this vehicle, and it is a very nice addition. You can just keep folding and folding this thing, so one has plenty of sides to use while buffing off residue. This is key to a swirl-free finish. For this project, I decided to use it to dry the vehicle. It picked up a ton of water without having to be rung out (partially due to the short drive prior). But in all, it is extremely soft and is now one of my favorite final polishing towels.
The smaller one was just as good. This was able to grab the Awesome Polish off like it was P21S. I haven’t seen that in a product or towel before. I cannot vouch for the durability of the towel yet, as I have not washed it. They both are a very fine MF towel, one that I plan to use as a final polish. For me, my final polish MF towels are the softest/plushest in my arsenal. I currently have 6 brands of MF I use regularly.
Awesome Carnauba Spray
This was my favorite product. Don’t let this fool you, it is not a QUICK WAX. This is a detail spray that contains carnauba. You spray it on, and it wipes right off with a MF towel. This does not streak one bit, as I noticed when I did not wipe it all off on one panel (did this on purpose to see). Great lemon smell to it. The spray was very fine and accurate. This is key, in my opinion, to a quality detail spray. I used this product on my everyday driven car, 1999 Explorer Sport. While I do have a little wax (hehe) on there, this product really brought out the color and shine. It does give that “Just Waxed look, so much so that I think it did a better job of giving “POP than Meguiar’s Final Detail :dunno This has found a permanent spot of my shelves, and will be reordered once it runs out. This is one product that I would suggest using in 32oz (I will buy a gallon next time). Like I said, this does not build or need to be applied by an applicator, simply spray on car and towel, wipe, rotate towel, and step back and admire
I even used this on the windows with the Awesome MF towel and it did not streak one bit. A quick, easy, and apparently effective product!
I feel confident now that I can easily pick up chicks by using these products! :naughty
Thanks again to my fellow DC members/friends for voting the Whale Mullet. This guy truly deserves the credit. While I apologize for taking this picture to the limits here on the site, that week of voting was one of the best times I’ve had here on DC. Everyone on the site, for some reason or another, was just in a great mood. Altogether, I really enjoyed using these products, and will continue to do so. I’d say the only downfall, and it wasn’t the product’s fault, was the swirl and scratch removal, but as a final polish, this comes second to none. You owe it to yourself to try the Mullet Wax Products out, my word or not, take it for what it is worth.
A big thanks to Dwayne for sponsoring the poll. I’m glad that you are carrying this product! Your services do not go unnoticed one bit, and I look forward to meeting you someday soon in person.
And finally, I would like to thank Tyrell (Fuzz) for this contest also. Who would have thought about voting for the best mullet to win some detailing supplies? Your humor and personality and your presence makes this site what it is today. I think others would agree with me on that. You have a great product, and a niche market. Success WILL be achieved for you because you’re the type of guy who will make it work. More so, we have a lot in common with owning our own business, our love for detailing, and the whole judicial education area. I am honored to have met you, and likewise, look forward to meeting you soon!
