Muffler protectant/beautifier?

On some cars, particularly SUVs you can see the back muffler quite easily. I know there are several metal cleaners that will get rid of the rust color, but are there any that will protect it from rust-color and possibly shine it up? Thanks!

There are a number of metal polishes that will clean it up but unless it is a stainless exhaust system you really have your work cut out for you when it comes to keeping it up. Aluminized exhaust systems don't clean up very well.

It is stock, so I'm sure it is just aluminized. There's no coating that can be applied on the exposed part to at least?

you could paint it but you might need high temp paint

that needs to be baked in an oven to cure

how about a nice cat back in ss?

Engine heat will also cure it. I've always painted any visible mufflers on my cars with high temp flat black paint.
