Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
a few months ago my neighbor told me about this thing called a mr clean magic eraser, and he said that it was really good for trim. as of recently, i've been hearing more and more about it. last night i was at walmart and i saw it was on sale for $1.34. hey, $1.34, i figured i would give it a try..

so today i was working on my car (pics of that later when the sun is out) and i noticed that the trim was faded a bit with some, and i wanted to test the mr clean magic eraser out. just for the heck of it, i decided to add a little bit of polish stains to the trim to see what would happen.

first i followed the directions of dampening the eraser. as i was working on the trim, i noticed that the eraser did a great job of taking out that polish, however, if it was left to dry, the polish would just dry rite back onto the trim. my method became, scrub, wipe with mf, scrub, wipe with mf. very simple. the results were great.

as you can see, the eraser really took a beating... i decided to throw it away. for about 65 cents, it really did its job!

This product is used a lot in our house. It is terrific for removing soap scum on glass/plastic shower doors and cleaning countertops.

I also use this to clean interior plastic in the Lexus and it works well at removing dirt. It's a great product.

That's great the Mr. Clean bar works but that really sucks you have to have an inspection bumper sticker! The folks who designed that must not care about car finishes :( Guess it's one of few pitfalls of living in Hawaii though eh? ;)

At least it looks like it's on straight!!! It always amazes me the number of "dealer" stickers that I see on Bimmers, Jags, Porsches, etc. that are just slapped on the cars with no eye to their being level!!! I was so glad that my dealer only used a license plate frame to advertise!!:)

ah, the vechile inspection sticker.... everyone in hawaii has to have one of those on their car, it just indicates that the car has been checked up, the lights work, tint isnt too dark etc etc, and the next time that it has to be checked by is Nov. 2005.

This is a funny situation..;)
I was just about to ask if anybody has used any home cleaning products to clean trim..
I've been seeing the labels on the house hold cleaners on these last couple of visits and the hardware stores and thought to myself..man, some of these things must be really good at removing grey wax build up on trims...
Good to know that we are all so into our work..

I had one of these in my hand at Kroger last night but set it down. I should of got it and now it is going on my shopping list for next time!

Thanks!

Be careful with that thing - it's abrasive (it will take house paint off a wall down to the drywall!! - So I am assuming it will scratch plastic).

Anyone know the ph of this thing. I have read in a BMW forum that it works great on leather. I am just very sceptical of the damage it may do to the leather. Anyone try this?

Our Georgia inspections have the decal placed on the license plate in the lower right hand corner which works very well.

There is no cleaner in it - it's an abrasive foam that breaks down so you have to buy more :lol

Just used this on all the plastic filled dried wax/polish areas on my truck..wow..
It WORKED LIKE A CHARM..UNBELIEVABLE..my TRIMS ARE DARK GREY AGAIN....
...really worked well..I dodn't notice any scrathces.I pressed pretty hard too...IThe trims I used it on are not smoothe..very grainy so It's hard to say..But I just washed my truck and I am amazed how those milky white edges are now back to their original color..thanks for posting this....

I don't think it is just a abrasive pad..it had some milky white solution (save the jokes ;) ) remian around the areas I cleaned...

I got a free sample of this and it has a very unique foam attribute to it. Grab some @ your local Sam's. I saw they sold em in bulk.

BTW here is a warning from thier site.

* The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a highly effective cleaning tool. Test first on an inconspicuous spot with light pressure to see if surface may scratch or dull. Not recommended for use on surfaces that are polished/glossy, or on brushed, satin, dark, or faux finishes. Do not use with chlorine bleach.
