Moving to Madison, WI

My woman got a job in Madison, Wisconsin which pays more than I'll ever make here in the "pre world war 2" market of NC. I'll be moving up around June 1st, so I'm starting to search for any possible job opportunities. I'm not looking to get hired though the website, but looking for input on names of shops/services of "autopian standards" so that I can start knocking on some doors once I move in. I have a few good contacts over at Kelly-Moss, but I'm still looking for other opportunities if that falls through. I've only seen a few members with WI tags, but hopefully those that live in the state can help me out and give me some good places of reference so I don't have to beg for a job being a wash and wax jockey! Thanks in advance.

What kind of work are you looking for exactly? I have a lot of connections in Madison.

Kelly-Moss has a decent reputation. As far as detailing, I really don't know any "autopian" places.

I'm pretty much looking for anything at this point. I've done a lot of body and paint work, but would like to continue detailing up there if possible. I also have a lot of experience building and maintaining track cars ranging from LeMans Porsche Cup cars to BMW's in SCCA, BMWCCA and PBOC. I'm really just a great all around car guy with a lot of experience and references trying to be proactive about finding job opportunities. If you know anyone in the area looking for a good set of hands just point me in a general direction so I won't feel as blind making this move. Thanks again for even responding, I was feeling this would be a dud of a thread.

You sound like a great fit for Accumoto. I'm not sure if they're looking for extra hands, but they are a little secret in the Madison area and it's worth a shot. Good luck and let me know if things work out. One of my friends is good friend with the owner (they tuned his TT).

Thanks Todd, I'll be sure to add it on my list of possibilities. I'll keep in touch with you through PM's and let you know how this all turns out. I'm sure I'll be asking for tips on not freezing to death while detailing when winter rolls around!
