mothers

I recently bought a bottle of mothers leather conditnior as well as the v.p.r spray. I noticed that it leaves my car really greasy, and not fun to be in. Its fine after about a wk of drying. The only reason I bought it was becasue I can get it at Canadain tire, without wrying abotu duty and such. What would people recomened I use for a less slick look and feel. (i would like natural looking and feeling) I ordered some bp but its gonna be awhile and in eed some now from my mothers car. Thnkx for the help

I'd recommend on int. leather not mothers but Meguiar's, which you can get at any Napa in Calgary I think, and maybe Canadian Tire. It isn't a fantastic product, but not at all greasy.
Right now I'm testing Poorboy's Leather Conditioner. Do a search and you'll see some good discussions.

If you go with the meguiars get the seperate cleaner and conditioner. Then you can use the megs cleaner/conditioner as a maintanance, alone it dosen't have much cleaning abilitys.

What you can do with the Mothers that you have is buff the finish after applying the leather conditioner...use a cotton terry towel and buff the seats...that should even out the conditioner and also remove any residue that is sitting on top....I'll bet this will make it allot better.

I'll raise the same question...Did you buff after the application. Yours is the first complaint I've read regarding this Mother's product.

Can we assume you are referring to the Reflections line-up?

i did a quick buff, and yes the vrp is vynal plastic and ruber protector. And i like the product after it has a couple days to dry, but i dont liekt he greasy feeling for a whiel after applied.. once a wk ahs passed I love the look and feel. Im just wondering what else their is that gives the same final result without the same slipry ness

I find te Mothers Leather Care to be the best one step treatment on the market. I use it all the time and the finish is perfect. I apply the leather and wipe off with a MF towel. The leather is left cleann and natural looking. I'm not sure why you are getting a greasy finish.

Have a look at Poorboys leather stuff its the one that I use and I have not had the side effect like you are getting from Mothers....

Good luck!

Thanks Charles,

if he is talking about Mothers Preserves Protectant I will have to say I strongly disagree with him. I find it to be an excellent product. Most of Mothers products are first rate.

What Leather Care product are you referring to? The new Reflections Leather Care is one step the older Mothers products are two step. Are you referring to the Reflections Leather Care?

i agree, try buffing it off, you should be ok for both he leather and try it on the v.r.p. it will leave a nice look but not the grease. if you are interested in trying pooprboys go to the poorboy link nad they show a couple of canadaian distributors that have very reasonable prices. i feel your pain on the duty part.

the thing is that we dont know if its coated or uncoated.

i keep hearing about people saying that if u're car is after a certain model year, its most likely coated. i feel this is an incorrect statement, seeing as my fathers mercedes, bimmer, and my bimmer all have uncoated leather seating. and i sure lexus' new seating is uncoated as well.

what happpens when a seat thats coated has a dressing applied to it? NOTHING.it just sits while very very little gets absorbed.

where as my uncoated seats absorb every dressing in a matter of 3-4 minutes.

when u're seats are coated u need to make sure u buff afterwards.

i havent tried mothers leather conditioner, but im sure when used right, itrs a great product.

I will agree with everyone. I currently use the seperate mothers cleaner then conditioner and it tends to be a little greasy when you get done. However after you buff off the excess residue then you can see a more natural look that you're going for. I think buffing is your solution.
