EDIT: Update on pg.3 with pic!

--------------------------------------------

Hi, I got a small bottle of this stuff with my claybar,

payed a crackload for the claybar "kit" (couldnt find just the bar anywhere) so I'd like to use it.

But really I was hoping to try some non carnauba sealant stuff.

So anyways, is this stuff worth using on my car?

or should I just buy something else.

money is an issue..

thanks!

I use that stuff several times a year.................

...........To wax my washer and dryer.

Get some better stuff for your car. Any of the waxes or sealants frequently discussed on this board are better than that stuff.

Its good to clean up some very minor stains or streaks. You could try it after a polish to get yourself ready for the real wax.

haha,

ok that about sums it up.

i'll get something else.

actually I have been wanting to polish the car.

can't afford a porter cable though :(

so don't know what i'm going to do.

maybe just use cloths?

anyhoo,

what do you mean about using it after the polish?

care to elaborate?

thanks!

You would use the cleaner wax after polishing. A complete detailing process typically goes as follows:

clay > polish > cleaner > sealant or wax

So in the case of the cleaner wax, you would be doing the cleaner step and sealant/wax step at one time.

You can polish by hand. I would recommend you get some terry cloth hand applicators or MF applicators for hand polishing. The foam apps just don't have any bite to them.

After you put on the polish of your choice (are u going with carnauba or synthetic? If you're going with a sealant as the top product, then don't use the Mother's) then put on one coat of the Mother's cleaner wax, then use your carnauba.

I'd figure you would use it since you have it already. If you've waxed the car before, then just save it until you start over.

It's a great one step product that is easily applied and removed.

It just doesn't last very long, but that's expected from an all in one liquid wax.

For an off the shelf cleaner wax, the Mothers' product is pretty good stuff, considering it's cost. However, if you are a Mothers' fan, I would consider some of their new products just starting to show up in stores.

Ok thanks.

good info.

I'll probably throw a coat of this stuff on now,

just for the heck of it, because my car is in dire need of a polish, but I can't do it for a while.

So i'll just use this stuff up cuz I already have it.

When I get to doing it completely and correctly,

I am going to want to go with synthetics, not carnauba.

Also, are those smaller cheaper orbital buffers any good?

my friend has one i can borrow, I know it's no porter cable, but would it be better than doing it by hand??

(polishing I mean). I would like to use something with some abbrasion to it to take of some damaged layer first..

thanks again.

If it's a cheap polisher, it might not have enough power to really give an advantage over polishing by hand. You would also have to know what kind of pads your friend has. Are they cutting? Polishing? Finishing? Have they been sitting in the garage uncovered and collecting dust that will swirl your paint more than it already is?

You can be very successful at polishing by hand with the right products.

ok i see that.

I would be buying new pads for sure.

he never uses the thing.

I'm just worried about wearing out my arms doing it by hand.

I'm african.. we have very skinny wrists :(

I can do it by hand though if thats what it takes to do it right!!

You can do it right by hand, or you can do it right by machine. Whichever way you decide to do it, just make sure you take the time to use the right products with the right process and you will have great results.

Definetely!

when i'm ready to go i'll be back here asking questions!

(dont worry I don't avoid the search function either ;) )

Get either scratchX or ColorX, for an off the shelf product for use by hand, followed with NXT, again for an off the shelf product, you will have very nice results.

I didnt know they put that in the clay kit. I never really got past the price, and it is alot more then the clay magic kit, so i use the cheap one :)

Actually, it is a very good product. I would suggest topping it with Mothers Carnauba or Meguiars #26 for additional protection though.

I love Mother's brand of car care products. I also think their California Gold Carnauba System is very good.

I'd like to see them make a more powerful pure carnauba wax, somewhere along the lines of a P21S or a Pinnacle.

I'll agree that the Mother's Cleaner Wax is a fine one-step product. I use cleaner waxes several times a year to control swirls without doing a complete 5-step; the Mother's is right up there with the best of them in appearance.

I can't say about longevity, I wax too frequently for that to ever be an issue.
