More QEW discussion (pics)

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
this morning i finally purchased a gallon of QEW from ranney. i figured that i would first start by using it on my mom's car. i really regret not taking any before pics, but from what i cam tell, QEW works, and works well. as a couple of you mentioned, i should rinse with QEW also, so i wont dilute the QEW with additional water, so i went ahead and did that. heres a couple tips that i picked up while going through this ordeal...

listerine bottle: something i just figured out last nite. the cap to the large listerine bottle is exactly 1 oz, which makes it easy for measuring QEW. you can store the QEW in the listerine bottle, and it wont spill if the cap is on. when you want to dilute the QEW, just use one capfull of QEW per gallon water, doesn't get any eaiser than that. just make sure someone in the family doesnt garggle the QEW :)

S&W: i picked up this tip from the roadrunner herself. spray S&W onto the car before you start with QEW. not only does it seem to break down the dirt, but i feel it actually acts as a lube for the QEW. the reason i did not dilute QEW + S&W was because i just ran out of my gallon of S&W, and i have only one spray bottle left of it :(. anyways, that method seemed to have worked really well for me, especailly on the caked dirt.

it was hot outside, and no one was crazy enough to try washing their car, except me :band

and now the pictures. typical reflection pic.. blue bucket = QEW, baige bucke = QEW for rinsing :badabum

heres a picture of the rinse bucket with QEW. in reality, it wasnt really THAT dirty, but i think the flash really made it look a lot thicker than it was, however, it still was dirty.

heres the part that really interseted me. as you can see in the other picture, there was a 500 watt light that was on. i wanted to see all the imperfections that were being made by QEW, if it would be additional swirls or scratches, or worse. heres me results

the finish seemed to be very good, looks the same as last week when i put the sealent rejex on.

however, heres something that i found. this was user error, not QEW error. this is what happens when you wait too long dry, or simply just miss a spot. dont mind the faded trim :angel

finally, ill leave you with a few pics.

not a good hood shot, couldnt get the angle that i wanted to :(

this shows you that QEW does its job. you can really see the orange peel on this one.

Nice write-up Zesty! Glad the QEW worked out well for you. The Listerine bottle is a good idea. Just make sure you have a big label with "QEW" written on it to indicate the actual contents of the bottle. :-p For my measuring tool, I use an empty 4 ounce bottle. I fill it up with QEW, then pour half in one bucket and half in the second bucket. Both buckets contain 2 gallons of water.

hehe, thanks for the compliment. i was already ahead of you with the labeling thing. the scary thing is, it actually does look like listerine

Zesty, I like to use a cooler that is designed to hold two seperate beverages for my QEW. One side is clean, the other dirty.

I found this one at big lots, but I have seen them everywhere. Each side holds up to 6 qts or 1.5 gallons making it perfect for QEW. You also do not have to tote two buckets.

It is even marked down the side so that you know exactly how much water to use.

Just a quick question.
What did it cost?

Charles

Nice write up Zesty! I like that you attached images, "a picture says a thousand words".

Thanks for taking time to share your experience with us.

Zesty,
Thanks for the review. I like the idea of using a listerine bottle cap for measuring, but not the whole bottle. What kind of mitts did you use?

EBP,
Good idea with the cooler.

Charles,
You can order the Two Cool cooler from igloo for $27.99.

Eric

oh, the idea behind the listerine bottle was that, you store the QEW inside of there, and when it come time to use some QEW, the cap can be used for measuring. the bottle itself is only for storage, the cap can be used for measurement.

as for the mitts, i just used sheepskin. now this leads to my next thread...
