Hi again from one of the new guys:

I was about to order either P21S or Souveran for my brand new silver metallic mini-van but am having a change of heart after speaking with a nice person at CMA. I live in northern Illinois, where the winters can be harsh. Also, I don't look forward to waxing a vehicle the size of a mini-van every two to three months. CMA suggested that I invest in Klasse. Durability seems to be the main reason. Also, the suggestion was based on the color of my vehicle (it not being a red or black color) and the difference between carnauba and synthetic not that great. I have read the threads here and there seems to be three camps of opinion:

1. Carnauba wax only

2. Klasse-type products only

3. Klasse-type products followed by a carnauba wax

Considering the above parameters: where I live, durability, and size of vehicle what do you, the experienced detailers, think I should try?

Thanks

You cannot go far wrong with any of the options. I guess it depends on what you want and what your goals are. Dont forget technique is much more important than the product.

Considering that IDOT (Illinois Dept. of Transportation) gets very salt happy in the winter, a polymer sealant like Klasse will work very nicely. On my previous Maxima, I put AIO and SG on it and it held up for the entire winter of 2001-2002. Then for added depth, I waxed the car with Souveran.

On that topic, I tend to say at least 2 coats of SG will carry you for 6 months.

I am a Klasse user. Try the Klasse concours kit. The mf applicator compliments application. Be sure to get a few mf towels. After AIO and 2 or 3 SG's then decide if you really need a topper.

just my 2 cents

good luck
