More FMJ questions.

Hello guys.

I can't keep well enough, alone and I have the urge to experiment with some new detailing products. Since a few months have passed, I'm wondering if all you FMJ users can tell me about FMJ's durability?

I use Collinite, and I'm wondering if FMJ can do better? I'd like to know if FMJ can last throughout the entire winter.

Also, I'm thinking about getting the Menzerna Kit from properautocare.com. What do you think of this:

Is that a good deal? Does that Final Touch Glaze contain filler or polish? Or both? My car's paint job is in excellent condition, so I don't want to use any polish, just yet.

Thanks for all your information.

I have been using IP/FP2/FMJ almost exclusively on my GS430 since June and right now the Menzerna products are my favorite. As far as durability, I have never let it go longer than about 5-6 weeks before I put another coat on it, or stripped it off completely. I find that my favorite part of FMJ is the slickness -- others rave about UPP and I tried UPP a couple weeks ago on my other GS430 to compare the two but I think that FMJ has a better look and feel to me. I wash all my cars weekly and after about 4 weeks, the slickness of FMJ is gone. I bought the Menzerna Acrylic Spray that is supposed to boost FMJ (indefinately, if you believe the marketing) but it doesn't quite have the same feel as another coat of FMJ.

I just tried Final Touch Glaze this weekend and its ok. Compared half a hood with Glaze and without and the difference is just slightly better. Adds just a little extra, but won't knock your socks off. As far as fillers, I would say probably yes, but don't know for sure.

I put FMJ on my TL-S back in May and my car was still sheeting water like crazy after I washed the car today. The slickness was long gone, but the car still felt smooth enough to let me know that the FMJ was still there. I do keep my car garaged everyday, so that's probably why it has lasted this long. Don't really know how long it would have lasted if I left the car out everyday. Also, I washed the car about two times a month. Out of all the stuff I tried so far, I like FMJ best for the slickness and the look it gives on my black TL-S. Blackfire would be a close second. It's pretty expensive, but then so are a lot of other waxes, so it all comes down to what you like and what you're willing to pay. Personally, FMJ is worth it to me. I'll keep buying it until I find something better. :xyxthumbs

I am glad to hear that - I am about to buy the kit as well. I was thinking of also getting AIO.
