Moderate cleanup (NOT 56k friendly)

This is my dd, a '99 Pontiac Grand Am SE. Mods are basic, Powerslot rotors up front with EBC Greens, intake, SLP catback exhaust, and some Silverstars. I bought it off the original owner in 2004, with around 95,000 km. It now has about 140,000. Not sure how he treated the car, but when I got it I tried to keep it in as good as shape as possible. After coming here I picked up the bug and jumped into the fray, learning that I didn't take too good care of it.

Well after being sick the last week or so, I finally finished going over most of the car with the PC. Looks much better, although there is still noticeable marring. Might have to pick up some Optimum compound / hyper compound and a yellow pad to get rid of some of the deeper stuff. On the trunk I only got most of the stuff away from the rear lock off. I guess I could have popped it to get the bottom half but that was an afterthought after the taping up. No tail lights because I was PlastXing them, still have to put em in.

Being under the weather, I had no energy to get everything perfect, so there is some streaks on the glass, etc. Ribs down I avoided doing with PC (wasn't working good with the 6 inch pads) but they did get AIO by hand and the bumpers are trashed so they got nothing, just some QD.

Optimum Car Wash

Clay with Blackfire polyclay and ONR QD

Menzerna IP via green Edge pad.

Menzerna 106FF via orange Edge pad.

KAIO followed by Collonite 845, both by hand.

Interior got AG Leather cleaner/conditioner and 303.

Wheels got KAIO, tires got Poorboys B n B.

Engine bay got a light cleaning with some Simple Green and dressed with some B n B.

Outside trim I never finished, was feeling pretty sick/tired by the end of the afternoon, coughing up lungs and all. Not sure what to use though, 303 on rubber, Klasse on plastic maybe?

So enough of the banter, here it is:

Clay after the doors.

I learned quite a few things on the first try. I really liked the application/removal of the Collonite. I have P21S, and both 845 and 476 but opted for the 845 because I might have not time to keep up with the P21S reapplication due to what seems to me to be about 2-3 weeks durability.

The tape I used (3M Scotch® Performance Masking Tape 233+, 18mm x 55m) though seemed to have cracked some of the rubber seal that is where the trunk lid and rear glass meet. I did leave the tape on for about a week, which I think may have let the glues adhere to the rubber too strongly and peeling it off caused the cracks?

By no means perfect, and if I was doing it for someone else this wouldn't be acceptable imo, but it is an improvement nonetheless. The pictures aren't too great either, wasn't in a photographic mood with the flu I have but they were taken with a Canon EOS 350D 28-135mm lens. Insides had a B&W UV filter, outsides had an Optex circ polarizer in case the shutterbugs were wondering.

Most of your friends will think you have a new paint job!

That is what I am hoping :) A friend of mine came over when I was applying the Klasse and he was quite surprised at the slickness of the finish. He said after he gets some cash he wants to bring his car down ('03 black Maxima ) and have me work on it for him

Big improvement! :up

No fenderwell dressing or it is a lost cause with a gravel driveway?

Sadly no, it was in the plans but by the time I was done with the Collonite I was starting to get a little dizzy so I left it at that and rolled it out, bloody flu  . I think today I will go finish the rest off.
