Mobile Detailing Insurance

Hello all! What a wonderful site to share our business. I just started the wheels in motion for my first and new business. I have owned and cared for many of my own classic cars. At the car shows, I would get numerous comments on my paint finish. I always did my own detailing and won awards due to that. I decided to jump into mobile car detailing. I have applied for my Master Business License, created my business cards, built and posted a website, have my generator, chose certified "Green" car products, vapor steam cleaner/extractor, on board water supply. But now, I realized I need insurance to cover myself and the customer. Is this called BOP insurance? What do you suggest I need as far as insurance to run my mobile detail biz? Do you recommend anyone? Thank you for any help. Dan Bradley...Proud owner of D&S Mobile Auto Detail Spa.

well though i would like to know the same thing you are asking about i wish you the best of luck on your new business venture.

Where are you located?

I got "Garage" and "Garage Keeper's" insurance through State Farm. "Garage" basically covers my driveway, my garage, and any car in those areas. "Garage Keeper's" covers ME personally, and any car that I'm working on. I have a $1M policy, with a $250 deductible, and it's right at $41/month.

Thanks to the replies...About the "garage" insurance. I will not be working in or out of a garage. I am totally mobile and go to the residence or workplace. And to where I am located...I am in Bonney Lake, Washington.

GK still applies as it covers you when a car is in your possession. Take to your agent to discuss your unique needs.

A general business liability policy should also work. Talk to your agent to see what works best for your situation.

M insurance agent is saying "GL" insurance doesn't want to cover being mobile (at least, the company she works with). GL seems to want you to be stationary (at your home/business location), and if that's the case I think a GK (Garage Keepers) policy would likely cost less.

Great News! My insurance agent hooked me up with a decent Garage Keepers and great Liability coverage through CNA. I can confidently perform my work, and give the customer piece of mind too! Thanks again for ALL of you detailers. Dan

what did the policy set you back?

Each state has different levels of insurance premiums. I live in Washington state and went with CNA. Nationwide has good plans as well for mobile detailers.
