Mixing QD brands with wax types - any issues?

I've got some extra zaino QD and I'm not using zaino on the car at the time. This has got me thinking...

Does it matter what type of QD you use on top of your wax? Some QD's are made to go onto acrylic waxes, some are made to go with carnauba waxes.

I got Sonus acrylic spritz when I got Klasse. I got Zaino QD with zaino. I started using Meguiars QD when I was using carnauba.

So now I have all these QD types and I'm wondering,

What would be the problem with using zaino QD on poorboy's EX. or even meguiar's QD on EX???

Does it matter which QD I use on whatever wax type I have on the car? Why?

I have heard bad things of Zaino being used on a carnauba finish. Leaves a little streaky mess, but YMMV.

I personally stick Z to Z and sometimes use Z6 on Klasse.

For carnauba, I use EF Clear Pearl as a QD. I have dabbled in the One Grand Show Off QD but I gave away my bottle.

For clay I use Meguiar's QD (consumer.)

iceman, nothing is wrong with it. I left it in California to fellow Autopian Yaz (if you are reading this Scott, how is the P21S and Zaino doing?) It is a great QD. I am just phasing out some products to something I can keep in my detailing area.

$26 for a gallon is a great deal on this Qd, a nice alternative to Pinnacle CM in terms of carnauba content.

For me, I just don't use a carnauba wax that often. Ef Clear Pearl has served me well, If I run out of EF, I will get OGSO.

I use a lot of different QD's on a lot of different waxes. EFCP on Souveran, CKQS on P21S, and OGSO on SG. When it comes to Zaino and my cars, however, I stick to Z6. I'm concerned about the oils, silicones, and petroleum distillates found in other QD's, that might interfere with the crosslinking of future Zaino layers. It is a different story when it comes to a friend or customer's car that'll be swirled the next time you see it...

FWIW...

I've been using the new Liquid Souveran which has done a great job on my metallic silver car.

I had also recently purchased CKQS since most were raving about it.

This past weekend, after putting on another coat of LS, I decided to finish up with CKQS to see if it would give any more "pop." To my disappointment, it made the car look worse!

I don't know exactly what's in these two products but they sure don't seem to mix/get along together!

My next experiment will be with going back to Meg's (either QD or FI) and seeing how they top off the LS.

I found the same thing with QuickShine, was nice on P21S but sucked on LS

I did use some Eagle 1 QD on my LS and its very VERY nice, real slick and really cheap too, pick it up at any auto Zone. My new Favorite QD

Thanks to whoever recomended it!

I think I've used Z6 at least occasionally on every wax and sealant that I've tried, and always had good luck (worked great with S100, even). As others have said, though, YMMV. Experiment and see . . . Z6 worked well on EX on my silver WRX.

I think BW brings up a very valid point. Many QD's will work over about any wax or sealant, but could have a bad effect on future applications of that sealant bonding. My personal preference is to use about any QD for the vehicle I use S100 on. For the two vehicles I use UPP on I use Platinums Gloss Enhancer. I think I would stay within the family for any sealant and QD. Just my feeling, though.

As I give it some thought, I don't think I have ever used any QD that didn't seem to work well and look good. :nixweiss

Thanks for the idea. I do have some E1 QD around so I'll have to experiment with that too.

Personally, I like Meg's QD the best so far. On my silver, I can't see much of a difference from their more expensive FI.

At least when used on top of the Pinnalce Paste Glaz I had been using prior to the new LS.
