Hello DC Members!
It has come to our attention that many people have the notion that centering your pads on the PC is not important, or even necessary, whereas on the rotary is is imperative. While this may seem to make sense since the PC DA does not spin but rather rapidly oscillates while it slowly rotates about an elliptical pattern, centering is not just very important but can lead to damage to the machine, numb hands, and not as good a finished result. You will notice that each PC DA machine comes equipped with a counter weight. This weight is meant to "counter" the force of throwing the weight of a pad either 5 inch or 6 inch about the CENTER of the machine. That is why the weight spins about the center of the machine. Should you not Velcro attach the pad very close to center you would have just negated the purpose of the counter weight and cause additional vibrations which in turn wear out the machine bearings, motor and your hands, Just think, if the machine needs a different weight balance for just one inch larger pad( half inch on either side), what would attaching the pad off center do? This is one of the main advantages of the Edge2000 system. You cannot attach the pad off center! EVER! We have not stressed this point enough. For the rotary machine, it’s rather obvious what centering does and the Edge2000 system was built for the rotary. However with more and more people using and asking about the system for the PC DA we have been hearing some comments that centering the pad is not important and therefore neither is the system. I hope that now people will appreciate how important centering is on the PC DA, even if you don’t use the Edge2000 system.
