MiraFiber......

My wife went to a home and garden show last week and came back with what she called the "ultimate cloth".....

I laughed and told her she got ripped off but, after she let me test it out on some different surfaces, I was amazed......

Cleaning the inside glass in my vehicles was easier than ever and no streaks....

These things are bizzare. All you need to do is get them damp with water and they do the rest. No chemicals necessary, none......

They are supposed to last for years if taken care of properly......

Has anyone else tried MiraFiber cloths......?

Here is the blurb from their website. Sounds interesting but would need to see a test first. By the way from their web site I did not see any where to order. Just a contact form.

Haven't heard of them before, but yes I would probably purchase if I happened across a demo booth. I do have a "thing" for microfiber.

Reading their website, there might be a little hype :D Microfiber technology, before ULTIMATE ;) came on the scene, was touted as cleaning with only water, so I don't think that is new. Curious also in the comparison table it shows Ultimate cloth to be no linting while Microfiber is low linting. I think the description of the latter is accurate as many of the plush MF towels do tend to lint, some more than others. There are other weaves however that don't lint, so I don't know that is revolutionary or "ultimate". I also like the claim that this towel is not microfiber and its arrival on scene has made "old technology" microfiber all but obsolete. :D There is also a contradiction regarding care and feeding between the home site and the sales site -- home site says the towels can be air dryed or machine dryed whie the sales site notes air dry only. Interesting read anyway. And as I said initially the marketing copy would not dissuade me from trying the product out.

I have dozens of microfiber towels and they do a fantastic job for what I use them for. As far as glass though, news paper always seemed to work a little better on my vehicles......

That said, the MiraFiber cloth I used the other day out performed my news paper and IG combo very easily and all I used was water to get it damp.....

No way would I spend big money on a package of these but, if you ever get a chance to try one check it out......

While they're new to me doesn't necessarily mean they're not good. I remember when Microfiber hit the scene and many said the same thing but look how they've evolved through the years.

Every manufacture, retailer, and middleman hypes up their products to make them seem almost God like; "These towels can do anything!" They used to be called snake oil salesman, now they're called car salesman.

We have one member that's tried them and see,s somewhat impressed. Now, if these are anything like those orange things that soak up the oceans, are indestructible, SHAMWOW then they're a sham....

They aren't like MF cloths. They are more like Kimberly Clark wipers or the Scott Shop Towels. They don't have loops. They're mostly flat.

I bought some similar to those listed for around $4 for 5 cloths. They were called "Wonder Rag" and are 16x16" made/distributed by Trimaco of Durham NC. Both seemed to work about the same, so I would recommend getting the cheaper of the 2.

In my experience, they are very good on glass but once they get dirty they don't clean up totally clean and they start hazing/streaking a bit. I would say they are good to leave in a car (in a zip lock baggie) for quick cleans or cut them down to eye glass cleaning sizes and have around the car, office, in your pockets etc. for quick cleans as well.

Now, if these are anything like those orange things that soak up the oceans, are indestructible, SHAMWOW then they're a sham....

Don't knock the Shamwow, they're perfect for absorbing pet "accidents", cleaning toilets and other jobs you don't want to use better materials on. They're also free.. ie: received as gifts... since no one with half a brain would actually buy them.
