This is a short version of a question that I posted in the Body Shop forum below. Probably should have posted here for more traffic.
There is a small scuff/burn (1/16"x3/4") through the clearcoat on the hood of my white 2012 Ram. I definitely do not at this time want the whole hood recleared. Opti-Coat is not really an option unless I do the whole hood/truck. Still prefer not to do this.
The question: .... Will a good quality sealant (Meguiar's Ultimate) pretty much provide adequate protection for this small area? The truck is garaged most of the time...day and night. I usually detail my truck three times a year and frequently apply Meguiar’s Ultimate Spray Wax. I'll only keep the truck another year or two.
I know that anyone who uses a buffer or sandpaper is eventually going to break through the clearcoat while doing a paint correction. What have you guys done when this happens…to your own vehicle, not a customer’s?
