The roof had been suffering from winter abuse and I finally got 'round to buffing it out. Why, oh why did I get black???

1. PC/Yellow pad and 3M Finesse It

2. PC/White pad and 3M Swirl Mark Remover

3. PC/Grey pad and P21S Paint Cleanser

4. 4 coats of Zaino/ZFX and Z6

Damn! I love that car!

Is there any reason they mis-match the roofs from the rest of the car? I think it looks cool...Do they give you the option of the roof color?

Brad,

You truly are one of the masters here!!! It's good to see you posting.

So are you still sticking with Finesse It as your go-to polish? I still am. I bought it on your recommendation 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I'm tempted to try out the Menzerna IP and FP combo. Have you tried these yourself? If so, any comments on them?

Will the Z layers bond to the P21S Paintwork Cleanser? I always thought that product had some olils in it, though I'm not totally sure.

Take it easy man!

Bill. :up

Looks great! I'm placing an order for a Cooper S when they start making Pepper White with Regular White roof (which is likely never). And I agree, thumbs up to Finesse-It. There's something about its quality and consistency that I can feel... very professional grade.

I really like the cooper just wish they had more power. I will getting the 2005 SRT Turbo in the new Orange . I have a black ACR neon that is in the same autocross class as your Cooper-S. The engine in your car was a dual venture between Dodge and BMW.:xyxthumbs

A detail like that should be the reason you wanted it black, plus it matches your wheels :) . Good Job!

BTW: I have a black car . I know how u feel sometimes.

GSRstilez-

The two toned paint scheme harkens back to the original Mini from the 1960's. Many of them had different color roofs, most were white, however. I waffled on getting a Mini but when they came out with this color (Pepper White) I pulled the trigger. And yes, you can choose your top and bottom color combos.

BillNorth-

I washed the car with Z7 shampoo prior to waxing to be sure the leftover oils from the P21S caused no problems. But's it's use was worth it. It seemed to give the black paint just a little something extra.

I have Menzerna and have used it a few times. It does work well and I find no faults with it but the progression from Finesse It to SMR is just so perfectly balanced that I tend to grab those bottles first. And, as mentioned, their consistency is second to none.

Andrew ACR 2-

ACR Neon? That's cool. Those get excellent reviews. Glad to see you are using it to it's potential in the Autocrosses.

The Mini engine is quite tuneable. I am near 190 hp with upgrades such as reduced supercharger pulley, intake, etc. They are a blast at the track. You will scare a lot of unknowing victims!

Thanks for the compliments!

Hey, Brad! Aren't you supposedly off cruising in Europe now?? How come you're still hangin' with us Autopia lowlifes? :D

Andrew ACR 2's comment just shows he hasn't looked at your posts about your awesome track exploits in the Mini. :up

I am packed and ready to go now. It took some time getting the Mini to fit in an approved overhead compartment suitcase. :D
