Mini gets new rotors and SS lines

I got new EBC slotted and dimpled rotors (front only) and StopTech Stainless Steel brake lines (all four corners) for my birthday this weekend. I am using ATE Super Blue fluid and Ferodo 2500 brake pads.

Everything got installed in a couple hours. Started doing some 80-20 mph stops to start getting them bedded in. It's nice when the highway is empty on Sunday!

Here's some pictures of the old and new. Note: I painted the center of the rotors black for aesthetic reasons.

Wow...beautiful....:bow

I love my Stop Tech brakes on my Z. Its always good to take them out to break them in :D

Brad, though I don't understand anything you said [Are you speaking in tongues? ;) ] I'm glad you had a great birthday and that you're having such fun with the Mini. She's a beaut! :bow

Brad,

What kind of paint did you use for the rotor ?

Is it the same that's used for the calipers or something different ?

BTW - nice job :up

Happy Birthday!

Nice upgrade! I bet they aren't that shiny now though :(

My dad has the same rotors on his Cobra Stang...Try this little trick, while driving next to a high median or shrubbery, slam on the brakes. In his, you can actually hear the rotors hiss while they disperse the air :)

I used VHT High Temp Paint. I came across it in good ole Auto Zone. I had it on my old rotors as well and it held up to track days just fine. I did my Carrera in silver and it works well. It is the same as on the calipers.

Did you tape off the area and spray it or did you spray it into the paint can's cap and brush it on? It looks good. Good thing you painted the rotors because my EBC's rusted in a week.

I taped off the rotor and sprayed it. Glad I did, given your experience!

Well, it looks awesome. I've got to do that with mine. Black and silver is perfect for the rotors and calipers. Did you spray it while it was on the car or did you remove the rotor? Sorry about all the questions, I just want to try this and I want to know the "right" way to do it.

Since I was installing new rotors I painted them off the car. Much easier to paint lying flat rather than vertical. I did loosen the calipers as well so I could mask them better but I left all hoses connected.

Now on other cars I have left things in place and have come away with just a nice a job it was just trickier to spray and mask. I do remove the brake pads, however.

Here's my S4 I did a couple years ago.

I installed Audi rings on these calipers and painted the hubs grey to match the insides of my wheels. It looks pretty good all together.
