Microfiber PUSHING water???

I bought a set of Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfibers and when I purchased them, I loved them but after using them throughout the summer, fall and now entering winter. They seem to be pushing the water rather than absorbing it. Should I retire these microfiber or is there a way to bring them back to life?

Get a big pan, and boil them. You'll bring them back to life.

Exactly the same thing happened with mine - got clogged with various waxes, and wouldn't absorb anything. Tried washing them on hot (60 deg C) and vinegar in the rinse cycle helped slightly.

The boil for 20 mins, and then into the dryer on low for 30 mins really worked, otherwise I would have thrown them away...

+1 for the vinegar, it will help release any built up soap residue.

Usually the problem that you mention is built up residue (old soap or product) in the MF. Make sure you are not using any fabric softener, but are using a residue free liquid detergent. Run them through at least two rinse cycles, or until you see clear rinse water with no suds. Not trying to push a product here, but washing my MF's in hot water with Micro-Restore and a double rinse has always worked well for me.

If that doesn't work you can try boiling them for about 10 minutes like tyusaf mentioned. Boiling will not harm them, but they might fade, depending on the color. I would then rewash (with very little detergent) and look for a clear rinse as mentioned above.

Micro restore works awsome for this.

What happens in the pores and wholes and what not onthe cloth get filled with polish and wax and anything else one your paint. A normal wash wont get them out becuase they are hydrophobic (sp).

I had some mf clothes that were so clogged wheni put them in a pot of water and pulled them out they were dry. no lie

I let them soak in a 5 gallon bucket with micro-restore. there like new

I'll have to try the boil trick and perhaps the vinegar as well. My towels seem to have lost quite a bit of their absorbancy, even after finally buying some MicroRestore for the last few washes.

Hmm... perhaps this is why my WW aren't cleaning glass as well anymore, and why I can't seem to eliminate those annyoing streaks on my hatch glass

I shall have to give vinegar a try next time

I boiled the microfibers for 15 minutes each and they turned out like new. My roommate walked in when I was stirring a big pot of boiling water with towels in it...he rolled his eyes and said he doesn't even want to know. He already thinks I am nuts for washing my truck twice a week...now he must think I finally lost it :lol :o :getdown

Dude - same thing here! G/F saw a huge pan of bubbling towels - she finally 'got' how I take care of my car's paint.

If anyone else is going to boil - you need the biggest pot you can find... they really do come back, better than new...
