Steve,

I will be ordering several MF towels from you sometime tommorrow, and i was wondering what YOU recommend i wash them with (Detergent, woolite, or ?), and at what temperature. I appreciate the help!

Craig

I wash mine all together. Only these. I do not wash them with any other items. I wash on warm/warm water, delicate agitation, normal cycle. I have a Maytag washer and it really kicks butt on the agitation and that is why I use this selection.

I add a little soap and the recommend wash solution of Pinnacle Microfiber Rejuvenation. I really believe this product gets the microfibers a lot cleaner. Just my suggestion and what I use as you have requested. :)

It just happens that we have a brand new label that has just started going out on every mf shipment. It gives instructions for best use and care.
I usually start by filling my washer with a combination of hot and warm water with liquid detergent...(doesn't really matter which kind, but no scent)...I let it aggitate for a few minutes and then turn off the washer for a soaking...I thne go back and turn on the aggitator for a few more minutes and then drain the washer. Then I refill with warm water and no more soap...and put it through a long wash cycle, with an extra rinse...the extra rinse is important to make sure you get all the soap out, as this will cause mf to work improperly. If I see any soap in the final rinse, I'll put them through again.
One other note..I use my APC to clean the washer before and after washing mf and do the same for the dryer too:)

Steve, sorry to suggest the product I did. I just realized this was posted within your forum. No offense I hope was taken. I typically login and click on new post. Just realized this. :angel

Wow thats a very unique but resourceful approach! Makes me wanna learn my washer better or buy a new one :LOLOL So you would say lots of rinse and aggitation cycle?

Great procedure, Steve!! And I'm sure Mrs. Poorboy appreciates you cleaning the washer & dryer after use so the girls' clothes don't come out smelling like Natty's! :)
Do you think there would be any advantage/downside to adding a scoop of OxyClean to the "wash" cycle to remove any stains or discolouration on the M/F's?

Norah I would personally say no because OxyClean comes in a crystal form. Maybe in a liquid detergent

Yeah, Woob, that was my concern too, but I was hoping that if it was added to the "wash" water & agitated BEFORE adding the m/f's, it might be ok - it does such a great job of removing stains! :)
I wonder if they make something similar in a liquid form? Anybody know?:dunno

Maybe you can add hot water first to make it in a liquid form? However you have to factor in that it won't full disolve. Norah have you tried MicroRestore? Or any other products like it?

I personally want to try the Pinnacle MicroReju, Charlie's Soap, Sonus Der Wunder Washe and Woolite. Oh so many things :nono

I used to use Woolite (and still do for my in-between load hand washing), but just bought M/R - and now Steve says ANY detergent!:bigscream

But you do have to be careful when picking "regular" laundry detergents! I saw Tide with added Downy Fabric Softener at the store the other day :nono :nono

Well I'm going to hafta stop using Tide or lower the amount of product I use. I think its a good cleaner, but man the smell and somewhat residue from the washer are making me think about it. I wonder how much water it uses if I do an extra rinse cycle.

I haven't tried it yet, but if it's as good as the powder, I'll be heading back for the 64 oz. refill.:) Looks like it will work better for other cleaning tasks, too:)

I really dirty-up my MF's, so I soak them overnight in a solution of about two gallons of really hot water, four Tbsp. of All, a splash of distilled white vinegar, and a little bit of SG (did this when they were covered in tar from the cleanout of my CRX, probably overkill). The next morning, I dump out that water and boil enough water to cover them. Mix this around with a clean spoon or something, and then dump that water out. Put the towels into the washer with hot water on the gentle cycle with liquid detergent up to the lowest line (1/4 cup or so). Run through one wash cycle and one rinse cycle. spin dry like crazy. Hang to dry completely. Anything that was in the towels is out, and I have yet to hurt the towels by doing this. It's a bit extreme, but it works.
