Miami blue Peugeot 205 & old skool on mine

Another job via the owners' forum here in the UK. 1990 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 with a recent 16 valve conversion (160+ bhp in a car weighing less than 1000kgs ;) ). Car in reasonable shape with some light swirling noticeable esp to horizontal panels.

Process

SSR2.5 via PC/DAS orange/DAS green

VMW hand glaze by hand/MF applicator

EX-P by hand

Souveran by hand

Meguiars #38 to trim

Poorboys B&B to tyres

Damp MF to glass inside/out

Owner very pleased with the results - the rear passenger side 1/4 has been repainted badly and showed a LOT less flake, as evident in the pics.

After doing that (5 hours) I decided to give my own 205 a quick wash and some old skool glazing/waxing. It seems to me with all the fancy synthetic sealants that have become massively popular recently, simple techniques seem to have taken a back seat, esp with winter just around the corner.

So I went with the old VMW hand glaze followed by a carnuaba. My initial results with blue Nattys were disappointing but out of direct sunlight, WOW! runs Souveran close IMHO.

Few pics (I lost the sunlight so apologies)

Andy, your results are fantastic - ace job :woohoo:

In todays world of high-tech gadgets on cars, I must say there is still something appealing about those 205's as a car just for the :woot: back to basics factor......

Both look fantastic Andy. Growing up... i really, realy liked the 205 gti's, and would love one today, but the upkeep is out of reach for me. Superb job!

Too much for me too mate - but it's a labour of love as RichT will tell you!

I had planned on doing my first show & shine yesterday but the weather at mine was foggy and not so clever plus she's not ready - yet. I have a subframe to paint, fit new hubs, driveshafts & wishbones to and fit, wheels to refurb, the rear torsion beam to remove and paint, engine to remove and either detail or replace(!) - endless list of winter projects but she *should* be ready for the 2006 show scene all being well.

WOW both look great! Whose is the miami? Im in love wth both ... Souveran on Blue works well then? Stop it - makes me want another.

Was hoping to see you yesterday, ended up judging the show and shine in the end. Met somone with an L reg miami with 2K from new yesterday to!!! They are out there hidden away.

On the 205 do Souveran, Nattys Blue, Souveran 3 weeks apart - trust me!

Hehe mate!! :grinno:

The Miami is Josh's GTi-S now with MI power. Pretty sure he was at Gaydon Sunday?

Souveran works really well on Miami IMHO - I think the pics speak for themselves really! That said, I've really fallen for Nattys Blue - doesn't seem to be much in it but I guess that's as much down to the *right* prep as much as anything else and I reckon VMW HG or RMG (if I'm feeling lazy) give an excellent base in terms of depth and reflections.

Josh has been on here and I think his wallet may be feeling the pain already mate....

L reg Miami eh? Go on, you know you want to...... ;)

LOL 2 + 2 = 4 doh - met Josh on Sunday, he said he had met you! We had a good chat.

L19 PUG owned ny a couple in Devon, is aid to be in sporting 205's They brought it new, one of the last cars built, won concours in 1995, lived in a carcoon ever since now on 2000 Miles, and no they didnt want to sell! Bringing it ( on a trailer LOL) to Pugfest next year!

Real nice and looking good those hot-hatches :up

They're little cars, but they shure give a hell of a headeack to the big ones ;)

I wish i could have a 205 in good shape, stock on the outside, only with some minor modifications in the engine and suspension just to give it a little bit more poison :D

Not a 205 owner, but owner of a 206 gti with Eibach+Bilstein and those GSD3 Goodyear's wish i drive everyday :)

You got it in one AMR!

Mine's pretty much how you describe - standard 1.6 8 valve (at the moment!) but with a 1.9 rear beam (i.e. discs instead of drums), 309 GTi rear shocks, Bilstein front shocks, Skip Brown Roadspeed springs, Group N top mounts and all lowered by around 30mm.

Corners like nothing else I have ever driven and on the right road can embarass a lot of more expensive cars!

Tough act for the 206 to follow IMHO but they're still good cars.

Rich - keep hunting mate - I'm sure there's a mint low mileage 205 somewhere with your name on it!!

Great cars, lot's of fun driving them :xyxthumbs

The 206 was developed with another philosofy, to satisfy more costumers, and to sell more. Some people say that Peugeot's and Citros are dangerous cars to drive, because the rear beam its... "unstable" ;) well... Pugs and Citros were developed to corner with the throttle :D

I will post my 206 detailed soon :)
