MGB rubber bumper restoration

My dad has an MGB with the famous rubber bumpers...

he's recently painted the car, and is asking me to have a look at the bumpers to see about restoring em...

From what i've seen, they look really dirty and dull, but are in overall pretty good shape..

I think i'll need to clean them very well before using a protectant to make them look good...

Anyone have any experience on this?

What's the best cleaner/restorer for this purpose? I'd really like to show him what's up with this, as he seems pretty skeptical of my abilities, and of a 'detailers' abilities as a whole...

Thanks!!!

There is a German product in a tube called Autosol which is available in Australia. It is for matt black, rubber and plastic surfaces and I would recommend it if you can find it in the US.

I bet there are a multitude of other products that Autopians will recommend that we cannot get here in OZ, so wait and see what other members recommend.
