MG or Jag clubs??

Hey guys, My boss and I just ran into a great deal and I need some help. He purchased two storage units full of MG, Jag and Triumph parts. All of it new or re-man still in the boxes. We do a lot of work with this stuff in his shop (funny thing is we are restoring a MGB right now), but nothing on this scale. We filled a 15' box truck from floor to ceiling and that was maybe half of it. I was wondering if you guys knew of some good places to go to sell these parts? Swap meets, club meetings or things like that. We have a whole lot of everything...most of it from the 70's and that era. Any suggestions? Thanks!

First of all, you would want to hit the Import Weekend at Carlisle in Pennsylvania. We have a 70 B and I'm a member of the local MG chapter around here (Western New York). We have one of the larger car shows of the year in the area on the first Sunday in June each year.

I would catalog all of those parts and put ads in some magazines like Hemmings. I'd hit swap meets and shows. Many clubs have a newsletter or website that would welcome advertisers.

I tell you one place that may want to take some of that MG stuff off your hands (maybe they can give you some leads if nothing else) is Brooks Import Motors up on Grand River Ave. by Capitol City Airport in Lansing....

They have quite a few MG's and Triumph's on the floor and in the shop, and may either need parts or know of the clubs/etc. in the area.

Thanks for the tips guys. It seems that all of this stuff used to belong to a shop down in Ann Arbor, and looking at the boxes they kept pretty good record, so that'll make the job easier. I just can't believe how much there is....this is going to be a project for the next year or two. There's probably 40K worth of inventory here. It's cool to go through it all, but I'm not a huge import fan...I just wish it was old GM stuff. It'll be a fun project anyway!

I just drove by the place I mentioned while running errands.... I had forgotten but it seems they deal with mg, triumph, jag, alfa, and even a few others.... quite interesting. I even saw what I think (being a non-knowledgeable jag person) was a twin of Lynn's white jag sitting in a service bay with the hood up.

Shiny: Be still, my beating heart! :D

StickKing1: You already have some good advice about MG parts. I'll try to weigh in on Jag parts. First and foremost: You got parts for a Series II XJ6 coupe? If so, PM me. I'm always on the lookout, and have some items high on my wish list right now. Folks I know in the Jag clubs (and, admittedly, my experience is still limited) don't seem to read Hemmings except as a last resort. They go to Jaglovers.com or JCNA.com for parts or look in JCNA's monthly magazine, Jaguar Journal. If you can't find these on the web and want to chat, feel free to PM me.

Hooray on finding this treasure-trove! :bigups
