Mfs vs UltraFinr vs waffleweave

After reading many posts I am about to place my first order of MFs with JT International.



I am wondering if anyone could explain the differences of the Micro-touch, Ultrafine and waffleweave.



Now I have decided to use it with the Zaino system.



What should I order (size and quantity).



Feedback is appreciated.

I am wondering if anyone could explain the differences of the Micro-touch, Ultrafine and waffleweave.

I recently corresponded with Tom Gong at JT and am waiting for my order to arrive. The Microtouch is the usual MF that most people seem to be using from JT. They come in green and blue with peel-off tags. The mint green seems to be plusher because they are from a different manufacturer and have a sewn on tag, which you should cut off. He also has limited supply of manufacturing irregulars with a peel-off tag and these come in purple. These may fray slightly at the edge stitching but are discounted in price. Most seem to be using the 16x16 size.



The Ultrafines are slightly plusher than the Microtouch and usually people get the 15x15. They have a whole variety of colours such as purple, green, navy blue, gray, and burgundy and have a sewn on tag. The darker colours like green and burgundy apparently bleed a bit so you should wash them a few times first until they stop bleeding colour. According to Tom, the Ultrafines are plusher/thicker but the Microtouch seems to be a bit softer. He also says among the Ultrafines, the navy blue, purple, and burgundy are plusher than the other colours. Others on Autopia seem to think that the Ultrafines are plusher AND softer. I'll have to see for myself when the towels arrive.



The Waffleweave has a different weave pattern (the Microtouch and Ultrafine are terry cloth weave) and is used mainly for drying. I posted a question regarding size of Waffleweave last week and most respondents seem to lean towards bigger size for drying the car without having to wring it out. Those who have JT towels liked the 28X54, which seemed a little too big for me so I got the 24x46.
