MF towels are leaving residue behind - hwo to properly clean?

I notice when I am inside the car, I can see on the windshield the residue they leave behind when I do my semi-daily water wipe-down. It must be doing the same onmy paint as well.



I have several variety of MF and wash them similarly - in a washing machine with a little clothes washing detergent.



I sometimes pre-soak them in either dawn or vinegar.



Any ideas how to PROPEPRLY clean them without having to buy more chemicals, if I can help it?

It could be the detergent you are using. I use Micro Restore and the washing machine and run them through the rinse cycle at least 2-3 times.
 
You can also use Tide Free. I use lower nap MFs for glass or I would use one of those glass WWs that Pakshak sells. Maybe try a glass cleaner as well.
 
- Wash on the Hot/Cold setting

- Use Liquid Detergent only w/ no bleach and NO fabric softener (I use MF specific detergent)

- Add White Vinegar to the rinse cycle for added softness and soil release

- Rinse at least twice

- Dry towels on low heat w/ no fabric sheets



You can also add some APC if necessary.
 
Most laundry detergents add fragrance, dyes, bleach alternatives, and/or fabric softeners. Any of these can leave residue in your MF.

Charlie Soap or Micro Restore are free of these I believe.

I also double rinse my MF and low-heat dry.



Also, I use seperate MF for glass. Polishes and waxes can still leave residue in MF.

Careful here, I was using about a cup of APC with my towels each time last summer, WRONG, I fried the suckers you couldnt get one of those to absorb a darn thing now. Live and learn, yes you can use APC but also be careful.

APC is what seems to have revived some of my towels. Many of them had lost their absorbancy, but after soaking in the wash water with some APC, they started doing much better.

You can always just wash them again also by running a full cycle without soap.



You also might want to run a cup of APC through a cycle without anything in it on hot because you are probably catching residue from previous loads with fabric softener.

Initally mine were the same as well but I think I used too much. I have some charlies soap coming this week that I hope might revitilize. Just to be safe I bought $200 worth of new towels from PakShak Sunday night :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs
 
Last time, I put some MF's in plain boiling water, let them boil for 10 minutes or so and cool them down under the tap, works fine, no resiude, desinfected and also spotless clean !

Damn, $200 bucks worth of MF in one shot. I probably spent that much as well, but not in one shot.
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again... this isn't rocket science, it's laundry! HOT water, liquid detergent (I prefer Era,) a little distilled white vinegar in the final rinse. No bleach, softeners, or other additives. Simple.
