MF Pads--Quantity

When using MF Cutting pads do you tend to use fewer pads per car than say an orange foam pad (4 per car)??

I don't have an air compressor, but can I clean the MF with a pad brush and towel as I do with Foam??

Brush will work fine.

I have maybe been don't it all wrong then. I was using one mf pad on a section then changing to a new one for each section. I would use up the 24 mf pads that I had pretty quickly.

I must be the odd duck here. I usually stick with one pad and continue to keep it clean with a shot of air after each panel. I also find that using a occasional spritz of water will aid in not only keeping it clean but improve performance and use less product.

I have both compressed air and the cleaning brush, and I can't make the pads last long enough to do an entire car with just one pad. I notice a diminishing aspect to its cutting ability as I move around the car, so I get a new one.

You might try the spritz of water. Great at keeping the pad cleaner longer. I have to give credit to Kevin Brown for this method. If my memory is correct Kevin uses the term supercharging when using this method.





PS: When the pad starts to get matted down and needs to be cleaned , give the pad a quick spritz of water and polish a small panel. You will think you just added more product to the pad. Check the pad afterward and it will be a lot cleaner.

I clean after each section with air and will occasionally use the brush and a spritz of water as well. I Guess I switch pads more for piece of mind than anything. I've had a few get out of round too when doing a whole car and that seemed to help.

Sometimes I will switch to a new MF pad even with Air and brush because I noticed the pads get loaded up somewhat to the point they need to be washed out to work properly again. Not too badly but still annoying enough.
