MF Drying Towels (Not MF WW's)

After NUMEROUS amount of uses of different WW's I still find the overall textures of the WW's is still a little on the rough side compared to some of my regular 16x16 inch towels. I find these towels, are streaking ever so slightly and marring the paint. Trust me, i Have taken care of the towels and have taken many other precautions. I have tried at least 6 different brands of MF WW towels and while they are good, I want better. I think basically and non-waffle weave MF towel will be better in regards to marring. I know I will probably lose water absorbency, but I willing to make the sacrifice! :)

My question: Which vendor/company sells normal very soft MF drying towels, preferably in the size of 3x3 ft or around that? I can probably find some, but I wanted some insights from people that have used them or might have comments.

this is the reason why i made the switch over to the x-large gold viking mf drying towel (though i've been using the wm ww's lately as well). it's very soft, and it will easily dry a whole car with no problem. go to your local k-mart and pick one up, for $8.99 it can't be beat... :up

I have two of AutoGeek's Cobra "Guzzler" waffle weaves and love them. No marring and dries like no other.

Promise.

Yep, no dramas with my two year old pakshak's. When your spraying QD on a wet panel and start blotting or soft gliding a WW over it, I doubt the towel will marr the surface

However I respect your decision to use a non WW towel. When I first started using drying towels, I had aquatouch (tricot FBZ weave towels ( think those used by paul dalton) and although not as absorbent as WW, still bloody good and soft.

Just for some reason especially with my Acura SOFT clear, I get the slightest marring. You can only see them in the sun. Almost like holograms that you can get in certain angles. Like I said its very slight but nonetheless annoying to me. Im blaming the WW's.

Currently i use Sonus Der Wunder WW from autopia. Meg's, viking, and some others i have already tried. I think its just the way WW towels are woven. The actual texture when compared to say a regular MF towel, you can definetly feel the difference in the fibers.

Im going through all the vendor sites and cant find any...all I see are WW's. Does anyone have any links of larger sized MF towels of good quality?

hey i have the same problem with the Acura clear 03 NBP TLS. I use a WW from excel and just set it on the paint to absorb and then go back over it with a big blue MF towel that I got at target to blot dry. But I swear the slightest little thing will marr our paint and having a black paint sure doesnt help!!!!:angry

I picked one of those up back in Sept. when I was in Indiana..... it is a pretty good towel to dry with. I haven't used it too much since except to dry off my friend's '57 Nomad, but it did a pretty good job on that car.

indeed it is. the plushness/softness is on par with the more expensive mf's out there, and with 6sq. foot of material, you only need one to dry off the whole car with ease. the one i've been using for many months now, shows no sign of wear...

I am going to be trying out the Blue WF towels extra large for drying tomorrow. I think I got them from auto Geek, I have never used these yet. Hope they work. I also have the big Meguires gold towels super soft.

Is there a best MF towel detailers preferr to any other particular brand. I also have a Black Car German paint , I told my wife why did you buy a black car. It torture!!!!!!!!!

Wal-Mart used to have the big blue MicroTex drying towel, but I haven't seen them lately (the auto dept. in my local W-M's has gone downhill, so yours may have them), and they have a big yellow Vroom at Target if they haven't cleared them out for the season yet. I took a quick look and didn't see any online equivalents (that are in the same price range, anyway...you can try here Micro Fiber | Microfiber for some bath towels).

EDIT: I just remembered I have been seeing big orange terry MF drying towels at Pep Boys, I think they are $8-10 ea.

I have the same towel. I too cannot find another. That section in my Wal Mart is really understocked. They even stopped carrying NXT car wash. That towel is really plush and has held up well for the price. I still use it.

Well crap... the last place I would expect to find the "best" drying towel would be Walmart lol. Since I cant find any online vendors, a Walmart trip seems to be in order. I have used the absorber before and never did like it for some reason. Calfornia Water Blade is the worst in my opinion producing the utlra fine holo marring that im talking about.

I know what you mean Chris - I actually like the big yellow MF towel from Target to dry. $7.99 - and of course the absorber.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with the big Target MF as well (used to be blue, apparently the yellow one is the same thing). One side of it is very plush and soft and works great for drying. They do fill up with water rather quickly, but they're huge and cheap. They also make good QD towels.

i was just at my local supply shop today (purchased one of these along withe some #21 :) ), when i saw the new silk banded 26"x32" chemical guys super absorber waffle weave drying microfiber towel (just as i thought i would be pretty much through with ww's). all i can say is wow! even though it's a waffle weave, it's sooo soft and alot nicer than any waffle weave i've ever come across. if you have any doubt that it would be kinda hard, don't as it's just as soft as any good quality mf towel. they don't get any softer than this...

I guess I will be "stuck" with waffle weaves. When everyone describes the "softness" of a towel, are you all describing the texture of the woven fibers or thickness? What im getting at is that it seems when the towel is dry and I run my hand against it the woven textured pockets of the WW seem "stiffer and more rough" then say a nice quality MF towel.
