Metro Master Blaster MB-3 Review

The service sucks. I ordered a few items on Dec. 7. On Dec 10 they acknowledged the email and said it would be a 1-2 day delay. Here is is Dec. 17, no package. No email status, no UPS tracking number, nada, zilch, nothing. I emailed them this morning and got no reply yet. I won't buy from 3M's Online Store even if shipping is free! When I place orders with CMA, Yo Steve and Neatitems, you get email replies, professional service and quick shipping.

that happened to me when i ordered the abrasive remover...it was like the beginning of November...got the confirmation email...then the next thing was a email saying due to the high volume of business(free shipping0...your order is delayed...never saying how long...no tracking#...it took 3 wks to get here....sorry i didnt post this earlier....:(

FLONI Bro,

You could have saved me some headaches. Sounds like i got the same line that you did. It amazes me how some companies, no matter how busy they are, can still ship product, send emails and get their act together, while others just have excuses....... Maybe that's why 3M relies on distribution, without them they'd be worthless..

Its because 3M makes everything, lol. From Computer disks to car wax... yet we trust their knowledge.... lol. BTW SMR by hand works great! Removed 50% of the swirls from my black ML:D

I ordered some abrasives from them and had no problem... actually got here quicker than an order from CMA I placed the same day. Ditto on the order for some 3M towels... ordered 3 with their free shipping offer, sent me a UPS tracking number, should get them tomorrow.

Maybe I'm just lucky. :D

I ordered some FI II on 11/25 then got the delay email on 11/28. I called them the following week. They said it is on back order they would look into it and let me know how long it would be. On 12/5 I got an email saying it had shipped. I was very dissapointed myself. When I finally got the package they had sent me a soft sided cooler that holds a 12-pack to make up for the delay.

So out of 5 people that posted their experience with 3M, 4 had late shipments and all kinds of excuses, 1 received their stuff as promised. Looks like 3M has a 20% on time shipping rating, that's pathetic.:down :down :down

No, in statistics this is not true. You may have only 4 people who had a problem. They are the ones that just posted. So you may have a .0002% problem. If only four out of millions had a problem. :)

I ordered my 3M SMR about two weeks ago, still haven't recieved my confirmation email that the order has been sent. I thought the people that make the stuff would always have a full supply of it. I placed an order with car car online last wednesday and expect my shipment here tommorow. They do have the best prices I have seen though.

I never had a problem with 3M when I ordered my first bottle of swirl remover, however, I found it at a couple of local auto paint supply houses for the same price or less and in pints and quarts. Look in your yellow pages and just go to a couple of your local suppliers. These guys are not always used to sales to non-body shop people or walk-in retail trade so sometimes they are a little slow with the warm welcomes but if you go back a time or two they realize that a sale's a sale. Also, most of them aren't really set up for a lot of cash sales, so don't hit them with a $100 bill for your $20 purchase. I've become a regular at some of the suppliers and you'd be surprized at the knowledge some of the counter guys have aquired over years of working with the pros. Another little thing, tell them you are running a small detail business, there's almost always a discount. If you tell them you're a one-time hobbiest, be prepared to pay list price.

Watch yourself about what you post about a company. A VW dealer is suing a man for posting similar comments in the VWvortex forum.

If you mean this one http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=52126, then read this "This morning Jimmy Ellis, Vice President of Jim Ellis Auto Dealerships ordered that the lawsuit against Mr. Mantis be dropped. He has called for a meeting with Mr Mantis and his attorney to attempt a resolution. We hope that we can resolve this issue that has been upsetting to all parties. [/email].

It's too bad there's been so many problems buying directly. 3M really makes some terrifically effective car car products. So I guess what's needed is a place to buy 3M's products where the service is better.

I'd suggest FinishMaster.

I believe the online store is run by another company besides 3M. I am not completely sure about this but this is the impression I got after talking to them on the phone about when I would receive my FI II. I think they are just a online distributor. Still being that they are representing 3M, 3M should enforce higher standard.
