Methods/Tools to remove caked polish

Hey folks,

I wanted to know what you guys/gals use to remove caked-on polish from your pads during your detailing session. I have always done "spot" polishing and never a full vehicle. With that said, my 1 cutting pad has never been caked with polish. However this weekend, I am planning on polishing my sister-in-law's entire car which has moderate-to-severe swirling so I know that I will need quite a bit of product. I have read about the "Duo-Spur" tool, but I was wondering if there are cheaper (free) alternatives out there. Thanks in advance.

To move stubborn swirls you need to do more passes, not pour on extra chemicals all at once. That will just load up your pad without improving cutting efficiency. Depending on the product I can usually do a whole car without loading up the pad completely.

I use a medium-stiff nylon bristle brush (it's intended as a carpet cleaning brush) for clearing foam pads.
