So I got a little lucky. This morning I checked in on Bimmerfest and found out that I won a Menzerna Concourse Kit in the Autogeek giveaway!
I now have a package coming with the following products:
# 32 oz. Menzerna Super Intensive Polish PO 83
# 32 oz. Menzerna Nano Polish PO 106 FA
# 32 oz. Menzerna Finishing Glaze PO 115C
Plus a bunch of pads and other goodies.
Of course today the UPS man brought me my order from CG that included my PC, and the equivalent CG products, i.e., Swirl Remover, Final Polish, and M-Seal (yeah, not the same thing as PO115C, I know).
So I'm wondering which of these will work better on my black BMW, which is in good shape but does have some swirling and RIDS. I have LC 4" pads in Orange and Yellow, and 5" pads in Orange, Green, White, and Blue.
FWIW, I played with the PC this morning on the hood of our silver '96 Subaru, which was in pretty sad shape. Because I had some 2 oz. bottles free samples form AG, I used Wolfgang TSR 3.0 and Wolfgang Finishing Glaze, which I understand to be pretty much the same as the Menz products. After washing and claying I hit half the hood with one pass of TSR on a yellow pad (orange didn't cut it) and one of FG on a white pad (speed 6 both products, reasonable pressure on the pad). The paint looked light years better than before, and better than the half of the hood that was just washed and clayed, but it was clear that a lot of the swirls still remained.
I found that at speed 6 the TSR broke down very quickly, but I'm not sure if I gave it long enough. The FG also vanished almost immediately. Should I have used more passes of TSR? Should I have worked it in longer? Or is this just the reality of trying to correct 5 years of being parked under a tree and being washed by the kids with kitchen sponges?
