Menzerna v 3m Ultrafina

Okay I gotta say I am really confused here.



Which is a better product line? Menzerna or 3m Ultrafina?



For hard paints?



For soft paints?



Maybe the application tool makes the difference. Rotary, UDM, Flex...
 
Please do a search first...but Menzerna + the right pad+ rotary=Hard Paint killer! Menzerna was designed for hard paints like MB, Audi, BMW...obviously which pad and application tool you use, your results will vary...i can not comment on Ultrafina...I have yet to use it...

I did search. I didn't find any direct and clear ostings on Menz v 3M.



I thought it a valid enough thread to stand with its own title. I am sure plenty of folks are interested.



Should make an interesting thread.

I have a simular plan, but I prefer the 3M pads: 3M extra cut with their wool pad, then Menzerna IP on the polishing pad, and finish with the UltrafinaSE and blue pad. And I'm using the makita rotary.
 
Both are superb in my book and I always use both depending on the type of paint I am dealing with.



Menzerna is great for harder metallic clears and will finish off superb.



Ultrafina works superb on all paints, but really works amazing on soft finicky clears. It is also very forgiving if to much is used. To me it is one of the best finessing polishes out there for ultra fine tuning if used the right way via rotary.



Ultrafina is a few bucks cheaper bottle size wise, but in the long run it is more expensive as more is used. Menzerna is cheaper in the long run, as less is used per panel.
 
Very difficult to say; it really depends on the application. Both are highly regarded on the forum. I have had the Ultrafina for 6 weeks and have used it on about 4 cars and am extremely impressed. You can work it forever and it finishes out very well. Buy them both- you can't go wrong.
 
What about on Soft jet black bmw paint? Finishing with 85RD or the Ultrafina. Granted, this will be with a UDM/PC.
 
To me it is a toss up. PO85RD and Ultrafina both good products. 85RD may leave a little better finish for a wax.
 
I've final finished with UF (after Menzerna correction) on the last 3 Bentley's I've done and it almost gives the finish that "locked in" even look. Plus, a little easier and quicker to use.

Only cowards are using finishing polishes after correction ;):chuckle:
