Menzerna PO106FF question

Been browsing around about it and I noticed some apply it with the finishing pad, while others apply it with a light polishing pad.



Is there a trade off with cutting power when using a finishing pad?

Is there a trade off with finished look when using a polishing pad?



Debating on how the line up for my car detail should be now.



Also, would using Jeff's Werkstatt Prime enhance the look, or make it worse? Read that PO106FF leaves a beautiful finish already.
 
since i don't have amy oxidation or swirl marks I use PO85RD as a cleaner. It removes all waxes and dirt and grime. Maks a finishing ready for a lsp but usally I use RMG then my lsp. All with a finishing pad. 106 should be about the same. Any blemishes use a polishing pad.
 
Really depends on the color and hardness of the paint at hand...and I presume you are using a PC? There isn't a big difference either way unless you are working on soft and pure black paint where even 106FF and PO85RD can leave some micromarring via PC...in which case a finishing pad and light pressure is in order.



I personally don't see a marked improvement in the surface by following 106FF with anything...and I'd bet Prime actually containes larger abrasives (just fewer of them), possibly degrading the surface quality...and I know your customers won't see a difference, so don't waste your time. If you want to improve upon what you're already doing...just polish longer. Just polish and seal.
 
I'm working on my own car. The paint is very soft and it is Nighthawk Black Pearl.



I'll probably start with OHC, and if it's not strong enough, Menzerna IP.



The reason I asked about Prime is that it goes hand in hand with the AJ & CJ. I'll probably Seal it with one of those and then add Natty's Blue on top.

OHC is slightly stronger than IP - I use both frequently. I still wouldn't waste my time with Pime...just focus your efforts on polishing with dedicated polishes...like 106FF.
