Menzerna Help & Questions

Hi all, I'm using Menzerna 83Q & 106FF for the first time and I have some questions as to how it's supposed to finish up. Should it finish out dry? Is it done when there's still a residual haze? Seems if I use too little it gums up. If I use the standard amount, I'm working it close to 5 mins and there's still a haze left.

I'm using a rotary, white 2" and yellow 1.5" wool polishing pads. Working on a white C3 vette. Thanks in advance!

Fred, just to verify the pads you are using are 2" and 1.5" in dia? Who makes the pads?

Does the haze wipe away clean?

GM, yes, I'm working on a matchbox car. Kidding! 1.5" & 2" is the pad Pile. They are 7.5" diamater Schlegel wool pads.

If I use more product and run it out for a long time, the haze wipes away semi clean, but not dry. It still has the consistency of a glaze or wax that isn't quite dry, like it's not completely broken down. I have to then do an ISO wipe and spend 10 minutes looking for streaks. If I use less product, it seems to gum up instantly and I have to hand rub it off to remove it.

I don't know if this is a pad issue or an operator error. Thanks

Porta, that's one of my next steps, I just have to pickup a backing plate & pads first. I wanted to rule out operator error and see if I could get an explanation of how Menzerna finishes up.

The ceramiclear polishes will not finish up dry. They will always have a hazy film to them.

Just work them until the haze goes from the colour of the polish to looking almost transparent.

Spray the panel and wipe it off. It's not like clearkote and other polishes that are finished when the film dissappears.

The recommended amount is 4 to 6 inch line on first panel and two to four pea sized drops per 3x3 ft area after that.

You should be able to tell how the paint repair is going when you do the vertical passes.after the horizontal ones.

Best done with foam pads.

Before - Hazy

Right - Clearing

SVR - Outstanding! :bigups Thanks, that's the answer I was looking for. I grabbed a foam pad today and had much better results than with wool. It also finished up the way you explained, which is what I was expecting.

Thank you for great reply and the pics.

Happy to help.

We both should thank dave kg for that though.

Sort of my unofficial UK teacher. I was good with menz but he's the king in my eyes and helped me alot.

I'll have to search some of his posts. I tried 106ff on a section of my car and had none of the same problems. But your info was just what I needed.
