Menzerna FMJ

Well after researching sealants for the past month or so I have narrowed it down to FMJ and Blackfire. Blackfire seems to be notorius for dusting and that was one of my biggest complaints with my previous sealant so I am now considering FMJ. For those that have used FMJ are there any dusting issues with this sealant? Can you layer FMJ and increase the depth and shine with each new coat? Has anyone tried a glaze like Red Moose Machine Glaze before FMJ? If not do any of you feel that I will have any bonding issues if I use it with FMJ? I would think that if you could use Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze and it contains oils, you would be able to use RMG. I promise this will be my final post here in regards to a sealant.:D Thanks!

I haven't tried FMJ yet but I'm hoping to soon. Do a side by comparison on the hood with Red Moose Glaze/FMJ vs. no Red Moose Glaze/FMJ. Let us know your finding/s. Rick

Well, to answer the first of your questions no I have not had any dusting issues with the Menzerna FMJ. Yes it can be layered, the furthest I have gone is 3 coats and anything more I doubt would really increase the look. Finally, I have used VM, RMG and Menzerna's FTG as a base for FMJ and there were no bonding issues with any of the glazes. Once you get over the $40 price tag for the bottle you'll be a believer in it.

Excellent reply! If you dont mind answering a couple more quick questions, did you find that layering FMJ increased the overall look enough that it was worth the time and extra FMJ to do it and did you find RMG to be a better glaze than FTG? I know RMG is meant for dark colors and that was the main reason I was looking into it, but I was also hoping that it would set my black cars off even more by darkening their color or atleast providing more gloss and shine.

Overall I do like the Clearkote glazes more than the Menzerna one. FTG is a little more labor intensive and I prefer the look of the VM or RMG, but overall it FTG is not bad, I mostly use it for lighter colors. I think the FMJ looked better on darker cars like my Jetta (black) the day after I applied the second coat. I put a new coat on the car every other day for 6 days and really didnt notice too much improvement between the second and thrid coats. As far as application VM was the base for my personal use (RMG was not out yet) and I let FMJ haze for ~15-20 mins initially and ~30 mins for each other coat. I QD with Crystal Mist.

Thanks for the help MS22! I think I am going to go ahead and purchase the 32oz FMJ from PacShak with some RMG. I figure $10 for twice as much is the way to go. One last quesion, did you apply the FMJ by hand or PC?

I hand apply all of my waxes and sealants. I apply sealants with a yellow foam applicator from Pinnacle.
