has anyone here used meguires clay bars .., i bought a yellow one at a paint supply store and it was a piece of junk . the thing kept going flat on me it was like working with cookie dough. i was constantly reforming it to get a car done. called megs and they sent me a blue one and i dont really care for it either . its really grabby and anything it picks up it just starts scratching the paint with . my first bar was a mothers claybar and it worked real good . i still have it and im going to start using it again .. is there a prob with megs bars? i really like using clay but i need some help here get me on the right track:mad: :bigscream :phone: :phone: :angry :dunno :wall :shift

Over the years Meguiars has had some bad clay. Really bad!Recently Meguiars has reformulated their Detailers line and the clay is also brand new. The yellow clay is gone, so is the sticky white stuff.

They have three clays now, a new white very fine clay for retail sales and a blue meduim and redish /orange more agressive clay for the pros.

I was given samples by Meguiars and their new clay is excellent. I go through three to five bars a month so we use a lot of clay and I really like the new stuff.

It maybe a little hard to find now as the old stuff is still in the dist. system, but soon it wil be everywhere.

I've used the Meg's 'new' blue clay. It comes in a black jar, weighs 200 grams, and works quite well.
Still nothing wrong with the widely available Clay Magic product...

I hate Meguiar's clay bars with a passion! I bought one to try and it took me longer to get the clay residue off the car than it did to get the car cleaned! And before you Meguiar's freaks flame me...yes I used plenty of lube, it was cool out and I was in the shade. ;)

This is the first time I herd of clay bars.. I have only used wax on my truck. What's so good about the clay bar?

Thanks
Zman

thanx for the replys im not going to buy anymore megs clay bars .. they all suck just like 2001 said .. they leave a mess .. im going to try a claymagic or poor boys bar .. z man clay cleans bonded contaminents and crud off of your clearcoat so that the clear coat can provide the shine it was meant to. its kinda hard to explain. but get a good clay bar and the lube that goes with it and use it like the instructions say and you will see what we are talking about .. theres a few posts going on about clay so check em out . ron

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the bars have been reformulated and do work better than before. It's up to you to give it another chance. Before it starts, I'm not a fan boy but the customer service at Meguiar's is pretty good and attentive to problems like this. I'd give them a call if you still have some of that old clay and see what they might do for you. WE have to complain or they don't know if/how many problems there are with their products. My 2 pennies...

i called megs and they promptly sent me a blue bar ..the new one .. customer service was great but the product was not .,this bar is junk also

What didn't you like about it?

I'll pass your feedback on to the team that is responsible for selecting that particular clay?

Mike

its very grabby , leaves alot of residue on paint and everything it picks up wants to scratch the rest of the paint . this is about the blue bar ..the original one i got was yellow it was also garbage . too mushy and sticky . i wont ever buy megs bars again. my customers pay good money for claybar cleaning and i spend considerable time and effort doing it to achieve the best finished product possible. i wont waste my time or money on megs products again ...
