meguire scratch X review

after seeing some unpleasant small scatches on my blk car. i've decided to get meguire's Scratch X

now, maybe i didnt use it correctly, because i have about 2 layers of zaino on. but after washing the car and applying scratch X, it did absolutely NOTHING!

i was really disappointed.

is it because i have Z on my paint?

or does scatch X just not work that well or did i misuse it?

i simply applied with a meguire foam applicator, and then wiped off when it dried.

As with an abrasive or polish (Meguiars polishes are supposedly non-abrasive, different definitions of terms used by Meguiars) you must work the product into the surface of the car. That means starting from medium to heavy pressure with some product on a section of the car. Then when the product starts to break down, go to medium pressure, then go to light pressure until the product is almost gone. Then buff off the residue.

So grab the bottle of Meguiars Scratch X, some foam pads, and some towels. Then go to the problem areas and try this technique on them. The polish ahs to be worked into the surface.

If you plan to apply Zaino to the finish then you must dawn wash or Z6 the surface to make sure there is no oils left on the surface that can make Zaino not bond properly.

I'm sure this would be on the instructions and you probably did it this way, but you have to apply it in the same direction as the scratch. Some scratches are too deep to be removed my any scratch remover. The commercials where someone scars a car with a quarter and then uses scratch remover to get it out is bogus. I use GS27, which is basicly the same thing as ScratchX, and it works when it works. It works like a champ in cleaning off rust spots and runs. It also works really well in taking off paint from other car doors whacking your car. As far as a scratch remover I find myself using it less and less. It works well for rubs that look like scratches but it isn't the first thing I go for when I have a scratch to deal with. Definatly a must have in the tool box of a detailer though. :up
