Meguiars Rinse Free Wash Quick Review

Bunky

Detailing Gnosis
I finally had a chance to use my Meguiar's Rinse Free Wash. I was getting ready to do some driving and wanted a clean car before hitting the road.

The wash is blue and has a nice smelling scent. I used two bucket wash method with the soap mixture in one bucket and water with a grit guard in a second bucket.

For wash media, I used Duragloss Wash mitts and dried with a Mothers Drying Towel (large dual pile) and a PakShak towel to do the clean up.

My initial reaction with the first wipe was that I really liked this stuff. It wet the surface evenly. All other rinseless soaps I have used (ONR, BF, DP, etc.) feel like you are washing with a liquid detailer. They all like to bead and often sheet off depending on LSP condition. The Meguiar's does not bead for me but just coated the surface so it has a more traditional wash feel which I liked. I do not know if this translates into a better wash but just felt more natural.

It cleaned well and also drizzles well down the paint where you load up a mitt then squeeze it to release wash before going over the paint.

I also really enjoyed the fact that my media did not stain. I could rinse them clean in the rinse bucket. I typically used 5 to 6 mitts with an ONR and do not need to use as many with Meg's.

I ended up cleaning the wheels with Sprayway Glass Cleaner and dressed the tires with PB's Bold n Brite (my favorite AIO tire dressing)

Summary: This is my favorite rinseless and if you are hesitant about rinseless or know someone who is I encourage to start with this product. The two aspects are wash feel and not staining media.

I used D114 today to do waterless wash on my brothers Merc and I really like it also. Flashes clean and streak free very well.

Try D115 you will love it too.

I'm really liking D115, too. It's my favorite rinseless wash to date (ONR V2-V3, ONR-WW, Blackfire). I'm using 2oz. of D115 to about 2.5 gallons of water, which is enough to clean the car and the wheels if they're not too dirty. I could probably get away with a weaker solution, but I'd rather it be a little richer/safer.

I also really like it mixed in a spray bottle at 1:8. I don't waterless wash the car, but this ratio is great for spot touchups, window cleaning, post-wash booster, etc. It's very slick and doesn't streak. Again, it could probably be mixed a bit weaker and still work well. I'll bump it to 1:10, next time.

Looking good Al. I love D115 as a waterless. I always have a bottle mixed. I find it to be slightly slicker than Ultima as a waterless.

Thanks for the review Al!!!

I never really liked D114 as rinseless because the solution seems to cling to the surface (it doesn't bead like you said) more than other rinseless washes I've tried and you did confirm it. It just takes more work to dry off the surface IMO.

I also like how D114 doesn't stain the wash media like you said. But from my experience, only ONR does this. I've tried DP and it doesn't do that. I hated ONR and I've only used it once mainly because it stained the wash media... Didn't like that at all.

when you guys talk about staining of the wash mitts... are you saying ONR turns the whole wash mitt a different color, and it won't wash out?

When I use ONR and other similar rinseless washes. the mitt does not rinse clean. It builds up with something (assuming it is dirt surrounded by the polymers) but not sure exactly. You have to wash them with a soap to remove them.

Curious as to why you like IUDJ over D114 and ONR?
IUDJ: how well does it dry, does it stain media, cleaning performance, cost per ounce, does it leave anything behind, compatibility with coatings, sealants...

TIA.

Confirming here also that D114 does not dry as well as ONR but D114 does not stain wash media like ONR does. ONR stains are easily removed by me with a spray of Pinnacle MF detergent on the stain and a quick wash setting in the washing machine. But, I too like non-staining on my towels/sponges/mitts.
