Meguiar's Quik Detailer

you are correct, the #34 is paintable while the quick detailer does in fact contain wax/silicone. I also find #34 to streak a bit less...

I'm using Quick Detailer at the moment inbetween layers of SG with no problems. Haven't started my gallon of FI yet.

Megs #34 FI and Megs QD in the maroon bottle are one in the same. It's just the consumer marketed version.

Really? Where'd you get this info? I'd always thought that FI was specifically formulated to be body-shop safe (meaning no silicones). I personally prefer Quik Detailer over FI.

All the same! The one with silicone is Megs FD or Final Detail in the detailer line, that one DOES have silicone in it.

Look at both of them, QD and FI in a glass. Same product, just consumer/pro.

If you are really concerned, contact Mike Phillips via "PM" on this as he is a Meguiars rep.

Quote from the link just given:

If there is any chance that over spray mist from the QD may hit your project car, then you can only use the #34 Final Inspection as it is only one that is Body Shop safe.

At shows, I would use Meguiar's Final Detail as it gives a higher gloss and a really slick feel. But at home around your project car, stick to the #34 FI.

Here it is - and Mike agreed with this. From what i gathered from the linked thread, ***along with all the info I've seen on the Autopia forums***: Meg's QD has waxes etc in it, #34 FI does not. FD is just a more shiny pro version of the QD for cars that don't see much dirt.

So, #34 is safe to put inbetween layers of SG, the QD or FD are not. If you are putting QD on and then Klasse SG you are probably not getting your SG to bond very well.....

Thing is I'm using up my QD and about to start my FI and I'm using it inbetween coats of SG and it's bonding well on a black finish :nixweiss Wonder if the finish will look better somehow once i start with the FI
