Does anyone have any experience with these 2 products? I never hear about them here on Autopia. How do they compare to other Meg's products? How about 1Z products? How would/do they look on white?

Thanks,

John

We've talked about them a lot but we use the correct name which is Meguiar's Medallion. We also use their acronyms, MPPP and MPPC. Do a Search using Medallion or the acronyms and you'll get hundreds of responses.

I don't understand the 1Z question.

Yep...search on the terms MPPC and MPPP.

Great products especially the paint cleaner. :up

I only have experince with the cleaner. I've had good results with it. This is meguiar's strongest/aggressive paint cleaner that they make for hand use. It's more aggressive than the consumer line of their cleaner, (step 1) and I would say it's pretty close if not just a hair (and I mean a hair) more aggressive than scratch-x and their number 9 swirl remover 2.0. I've used it for light scratches and minor blemishes. I've also heard it's good for oxidation.

MPPC is an AWESOME chemical cleaner. If ever I am starting fresh and want to remove any old wax/polish from a vehicle this is the product I grab for. It leaves the finish literaly "squeaky" clean. It does a great job of removing water spots but is lacking in the swirl/scratch removal department...I would suggest using #9, #82 or #83 for that.

MPPP is also an AWESOME product BUT it does have some drawbacks. It's pro's are that it has great durability and a very unique look to it (kinda looks like NXT without the color darkening). The con (and it is a very BIG con) is that it is one of the hardest products I have ever used to remove. Even when using a MF sprayed with QD it can be a bear to remove almost comparable to the level of #16 that has been left on too long. If this product removed easier I would be using it ALL the time but the stubborn removal factor makes it a "once in a while" product for me.

I agree.

LOL, do you want to remove MPPP? Use MPPC!

MPPC is so strong, you almost need a respirator for the fumes, but it's a darn fine paint cleaner.

MPPP is also a fantastic protectant; I used it on the Malibu in late November, and it lasted almost to the end of February with no washes (the wifemobile, sorry guys). I personally like the look of it very much. There are products I like better, but MPPP looks pretty good.

I wonder, though, if MPPP might be the odd man out in the Meguiar's lineup. It doesn't really do anything that another product doesn't do better, including move off the shelves.

I have no experience comparatively from the Medallions to the 1Z line, so I can't help you there. But I'd hazard a guess that the 1Z products might be more "fun" and interesting to use, if only for their uniqueness and exclusivity. Either line should give outstanding results if used properly, but sometimes its cool to learn how to use something exotic.

Thanks guy's for all the help. I also did a search on MPPP and found some interesting stuff said by Aurora40 I believe and Mosca.

You can also look in the "reviews" section.

MPPP: http://www.autopia.org/review/censura.php?cmd=details&itemid=19

MPPC: http://www.autopia.org/review/censura.php?cmd=details&itemid=54

I like them both. I don't use MPPC much anymore because I find Swirl Free Polish or Dual Action Cleaner/Polish is better with light marring, and none of my cars ever accumulate oxidation. But MPPC is a great cleaner and great oxidation remover. And it's very easy to use.

MPPP is nice too, and has a very nice look and smoothness. It has crummy beading, though, which I don't like so much. It beads a lot like Klasse in that it isn't great, but it is distinct enough you can tell if it is still there. I've always found it very easy to apply and remove. Just let it sit for a bit before you buff it off. If you don't want to do a lot of steps and layering and the whole deal, MPPP is very nice as it has good durability, and it has some very light cleaning action. So if you waxed your car 4-6 times a year, you could polish/clean the car like once a year and then just use MPPP by itself the subsequent times and keep it in very nice shape.

Didn't realize that MPPP has cleaning properties. If that's so, can it be layered? I like the look and feel of MPPP. Reminds me of Zaino, and it applies and wipes off like Zaino.

I've been using it for years, and so far it's been very easy to remove for me...But it takes up to 30 minutes to dry sometimes.

I apply mine with a PC.

Not sure about the ScratchX, but I've gotten much better cleaning ability with MPPC than with #9...This is just my opinion based on the last 5 years of using both.

I personally think MPPC has about 2 times the cleaning power of #9...But I did use the W-7006 pad on the PC to buff it in.
