Meguiars PC pads and BP

I own a PC with the 6" PC BP it comes with from Coastaltool. I noticed on autogeek.net under Meguiars pads it says only to use the 6.5" pads with a 5" BP. I also noticed that under their LC VC pads. I've been using my BP with LC VC 6" pads and have no problems, I recently picked up a Meguiars finishing pad for CMW and EX-P, and i'm wondering if i'm going to encounter any problems with my BP?? I'm sure Meguiars reccomends that you buy their BP, i'm just wondering if a large BP will cause any damaging effects to the pad or machine??? I do also realize that the BP should be a little smaller than the pad for safety reasons, but I feel very comfortable with the pads and bp I have now. I wouldn't have though twice about it, its just the description got my wondering.

OT question what speed should I apply CMW and EX-P on??? I was thinking 2.5 or 3?

You just need to be careful that you don't bump anything with the backing plate. The 5" give you a little room to spare. There are other people that use the 6" backing plate with no problems.......... just a little extra caution.

I would say 2.5 or 3 is just fine to apply those products. With waxes or sealants, you are simply trying to lay the product on the paint surface in thin/even coats.
