My first time using m105 was on this 2010 Mercedes GLK 350.
Here are some photos I took prior to wash and decontamination. I apologize for the awkward orientation of the photos.
I started with a Meg's MF cutting disc and had some issues with the paint on the hood being very finicky. I later found out some of the panels HAD been repainted at some point. So the hood, passenger fender and doors had softer paint than the rest of the vehicle. I switched from the MF cutting disc to a Lake Country Cyan hydrotech pad. The cut was not as good as it was with the MF cutting disc, however the amount of haze was significantly less.
Here is the hood vs driver's fender after 2 passes with m105, cyan hydrotech pad, GG6 with a 5" backing plate, speed setting 4-5, medium-firm pressure and very slow movement.
I received these results with very slow movement and minimal passes (1-2, some problem areas were hit with the CarPro flashpad)
As you can see above, there was still some haze left over.
Just a caveat, my technique may not be 100%, the age of the repainted panels was unknown.
Here are a couple of photos showing the roof before and after with only 1 pass with the same technique. Lots of water spots/etching, bird bomb etching, and swirls and rids to match the rest of the paint on the vehicle.
Here I have a photo showing before and after of the front bumper cover with 1 pass, same technique. As you can see the bumper is still not perfect, lots of tiny rock chips and highway wear. I was fairly impressed to say the least.
Here are two photos showing side by side comparisons. These two photos are after m105 AND! CarPro Reflect with a white LC flatpad. All photos above are ONLY after m105. I would say m105 did 95% of the work here. I will do a review of Reflect in another thread.
My thoughts on M105.
1. Cutting ability 9.5/10 I was very very impressed with the ability to remove 90% of defects with 1 pass.
2. Working time NA/10 Working time is tricky to rate for me. It "flashes" fast. Short working time, but very effective use of that time.
3. Dusting 5/10 My rating here is indicative of M105 dusting relative to all other compounds I have used. YES it dusts quite a bit.
Summary
M105 cuts like crazy considering the fact that I used a DA and a foam pad. There was dust, but I didn't care, the dusting kept the debris away from the pad surface and made pad cleaning faster and easier. Once the pad is primed little product is needed. I did experience some issues with severe haze when paired with the MF cutting pad, and the residue was not always easy to wipe off of the surface.
This is the best cutting compound I have used, I will continue to play around with more compounds, but I doubt I will find anything as impressive. Cost to performance is amazing.
